Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.! V7 n, o. Q$ L$ E* v1 D

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.) H/ ?' a- n/ X& s' S; a
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

0 z$ h$ B& {" c7 v• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.4 e/ n4 a% d. S% Z5 r; b
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability + M: m- N4 k7 v4 f, n
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

' O; w- _. u% x' y0 {4 p B• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
% t7 ], p0 E/ h% V! y• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.; l R* S6 U' ?& z5 v
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

HOURS OF WORK:

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
# ^6 Z+ D/ [, N! {" ]Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly% p9 ~% p6 e( u' n
