This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis." V+ _: g: K$ J' t7 q9 j% B! `

• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
* U( q, v& `8 R/ h( K1 @0 |7 {" ]• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.; h- v8 b0 |: J6 z/ Q% N; ^
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
6 R, h7 z& Y X2 X* H8 S• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
+ j! `* O" G, _, F* I• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
/ w4 G1 O/ }0 O* T9 r+ J" gto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger ' s- i: q( X% @, q9 [ l

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).5 e V4 g' D$ n+ U
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years., u" m5 }* K5 P
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training." ^/ [1 u1 ~/ j$ X: j
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 6 A( Y; w( F8 @4 `8 [/ S* b
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
& @- U) [# X8 U+ b8 }, g• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 4 ?6 |8 S' M$ n4 M* @. S9 j
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).* E4 f0 v* y6 e6 q$ Y+ J( F

HOURS OF WORK:

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 + o x N, ^% k$ |

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
