the Students' Union and oversees all electoral logistics as per Bylaw 8 u8 C+ @+ [' L- \. v
2000. The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students' k n7 }; |$ M5 _' x7 Z' f
Council in the manner set out in the Council Administration Committee

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

! ^# n: ~# F F0 l2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.& J m' O/ J) U
8 h" z4 X' e. X) C( f/ t- f4 ?0 s( F1 @3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.

4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing
S) b3 J" p8 I" Sadequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations & W# C+ L3 ?3 z6 y
across campus, and advertising the poll locations.

5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/ , i" z7 D7 u5 N$ \* D! O

parties.

7) To facilitate classroom speaking arrangements during an election/ 2 r2 ?, g6 C* {& w
referendum.

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a " K2 d" G5 R# [ J, F
minimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday, . N3 u/ J* h% i$ G
from the first working day after nominations close until the last day
) n4 p5 v% @$ vof voting. These hours are to be posted in advance.5 ]8 i- D& s& X! ^* `
- ]) ?0 D' f: N, h& W. K11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during ! C; V, z* R; O+ [
the course of an election/referendum.

( K9 K# P: b2 c, ?' S12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting
) |4 y" Y0 S; a4 i8 n. L9 }process is in place.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course
* X. C5 v( H; c- r- jfor each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students' 9 W0 q1 b$ |4 G) D, O! n W" j& X
Union member.& l, o) h" @0 l, `& J
( l+ {, O2 f: ]1 F3 s/ v2) Must have some experience in student elections.
) `. f+ g) {8 B1 A' w9 I0 h
" N, L8 ?) m$ w. [* l3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or 6 W; G3 k5 ?0 F& c: C
any of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position 8 r+ Y% {& S6 A$ S$ M6 v) @
with the Students' Union.
