The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit

volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
8 S" O7 H/ t1 R' E! J+ f' R. uorganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
3 f3 n( i+ P* Y$ v" K$ M# nsustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
2 b% C) j/ R6 i$ r; `& Aand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
% u- `9 Z5 ?+ U+ v& |' wworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
/ Q3 v& n/ ?' U1 maffairs at all times.

; m) _) B9 e5 _- @7 s& rPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
, g* o. y7 R! ~% J+ `1 kmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
  ^. \5 `. O4 X5 m7 x' p9 q- @to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
+ N8 ~' @2 |  h9 ^/ T0 P% K# }as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
2 x( r$ f( c' kthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

% t- \; g% p  s8 A8 X  O4 @In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
2 }3 O  T" _+ H* ~; hdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
& ?* s; k! W1 ?; D7 H: Cthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
- W$ W% |1 q% I* Y% T5 {2 o* D2 rpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
7 K' ]: b- j) ]4 Y3 ?the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
- q) j+ h, o& V, R/ |organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
+ g- w6 U  |7 @/ n$ C1 m6 [processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
