Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works3 q$ ]4 y0 ^1 A0 }% k
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets." b% R" {2 M4 o+ u9 R8 c: _4 [
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.

G. h: E; V* x/ q, }• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

2 M/ v4 O5 o% h4 W# ]! u2 u• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
$ n- f! o# [8 y* F1 N% H• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.) W) ~" B# @) H6 P3 O, w
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.- ~3 |: Z" f+ U9 o0 G1 F4 C
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.

• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).3 H6 K, f! R& L! |+ Y) @
• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.+ d% D7 J( p4 k' ~4 T' u& P
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
+ b6 o1 \; D p• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.8 c X& X8 P" {* [. Q# \6 `
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.

Functions of all positions:

• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

- H. Y1 [4 }9 t/ v; `• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume. n; H4 g6 j* O
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.7 e. E( z! f0 P
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.' G, W; t! z( ^% f4 `# P+ N
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions." C/ \% Q) ~' a9 d; K
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment." k. r, I y L# l0 n
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.; y2 B$ c5 Y* I' u! q
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.! [$ R$ n5 u" t. Y7 ]* `
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
% F. I" f" [9 uSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.; {$ _' }, |. s
