TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.* p+ w# V% [% x$ `( M3 F0 k. E
Clarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.! m6 E3 x, v4 Z, d0 p
There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

; E9 d* Z' W* h! V* EThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007./ N5 j5 {/ }# u2 H6 `
