Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:

I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:& I" d7 t$ u& Q/ C* Y P" A) t. C
"I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
+ p; p! ^: C/ U) {9 HHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage." * k4 C7 N" p, x6 p
"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?" ; m: R4 D7 L8 K, O9 ]) O& s4 }
"Yes, I did."
7 \! `1 X3 }% ]( o% pFinally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post. ; l7 D6 \/ {2 O4 t
He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. % }, k' \/ n0 R, `% p7 p" T3 p4 Y, I
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?", w6 M" o; m- Q5 W* `
"No, I am not. I do not do those things."/ ?& o! q4 y* c/ K. }( Q7 I
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. 4 y4 n1 [4 U+ o; n, I' q
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:6 D# X0 D% G: E5 z# E& q
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"
8 t/ m! R! l+ Y/ p$ R: w! `"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:: N3 ]% g3 i* W/ g. l8 p: {
"I do not have an address.", j! l! y* Z: ?
I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"7 B. [# V }' B N4 [' J, N
He did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
7 R# l- ~) s6 i" O+ Y. bMy heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it.
3 _# G1 a- |; K5 C6 ^8 `; c6 _He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
