/ w* ], s8 A4 w; n# f: jA police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street./ ?- H1 m/ U* y$ t, B* s. A5 g& t, l
Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.3 w8 B) p& z& j! g/ l R/ x- Q
"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."1 [- M9 W( q( b+ t( r \
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.
