9 S" n2 ^6 r2 |# C, F( GAn Edmonton-based trucking coming is facing $3 million dollars worth of fines under the Traffic Safety Act for allegedly operating overweight vehicles on city roads.
) W3 ?% m ~6 |/ iA police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.
' I9 R7 Q& f! {: KPolice say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.
C( ~; A& g1 z2 n/ n1 Q, _"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."
