An Edmonton-based trucking coming is facing $3 million dollars worth of fines under the Traffic Safety Act for allegedly operating overweight vehicles on city roads.
' `2 l: d* j2 T1 I3 l3 ^A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.3 R& {8 B# P) X4 `4 H0 ]
Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.
" P8 n) G0 M- c; l"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."
