A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.
& u4 }& n- Z+ HPolice say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.# v3 \4 y; l% Q1 L3 ~
"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."2 N+ ?- u% N0 {6 Q: N- e8 b
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.

Beattie added that roadways can be destroyed by overweight vehicles since they cause cracks and potholes.
