5 `% E2 H6 q& n8 R1 o! ` Y IAn Edmonton-based trucking coming is facing $3 million dollars worth of fines under the Traffic Safety Act for allegedly operating overweight vehicles on city roads.
; `1 i; \' p1 f* b. M+ j% OA police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.- F. F" [1 t$ y+ d8 ~6 {* G3 u9 T
Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.
/ I! F6 r; x8 d5 _- n% R d% p"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe.": x* n1 Z6 W1 D- N7 [$ U6 k
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.

The company is due in court on Thursday, December 3.
