( H* f/ {: L# i/ B9 k! C　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

$ {! a( S, \" S$ V! D5 B" X　　One single white immensity.
' ^3 ~) v; ?4 w' I: z: A
　　The Yellow River"s swift current

& H! ?+ k1 `- P( w8 H. Y8 g　　Is stilled from end to end.

　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

0 ?. n9 Z( G* ?# B　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

　　Vying with heaven in stature.

3 L; t4 ?$ z* d$ L5 N. B8 o　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty

　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

. l. K5 I$ X4 _% P　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

. _; R# r7 Z- \- G: K- [　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

7 S5 T$ Q; |& A) H2 E4 m　　Had little poetry in their souls;
　　And Genghis Khan,

# F# Q0 T& z5 y, O　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

　　For truly great men
