　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

　　One single white immensity.

% s6 ^3 h; I& P7 g" M　　The Yellow River"s swift current
' @) m, |' r# _# z' ?6 A
　　Is stilled from end to end.

$ B6 Q# `1 b& o1 t　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

5 k" _; z; W* `. Y　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

% q. ?; \$ x5 f# B; V, q& Y" ^9 R　　Vying with heaven in stature.

　　On a fine day, the land,

9 K5 `" t! |# ^# L% h/ v% m　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

( _2 v7 r  z1 E# v$ |5 M, o% w　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

# J+ V: U7 S- e6 p　　Had little poetry in their souls;
- d2 N* M  c7 r( F" P0 {. I　　And Genghis Khan,

/ b1 i, n" c" t6 |4 S. ~　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

- o: e1 K3 G1 C- s7 E　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

4 D. q; E/ V/ v　　All are past and gone!

　　Look to this age alone.
