8 ^% k! G# W2 m& D　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

& i. F# L2 ~$ Z% a　　Both sides of the Great Wall

- u2 ], f6 B0 ~4 t( C$ w　　One single white immensity.

　　The Yellow River"s swift current

　　Is stilled from end to end.

5 n" k1 P( W8 b' o1 f　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

2 G" E: b5 j. u2 A　　Vying with heaven in stature.

& w1 `* h9 `' K# h$ z& V& ~' l% I5 a　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

0 e; o( P, y5 Y( A, ~( j　　This land so rich in beauty

% N! f& E+ |6 c# N7 ?7 Y  T　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

2 T  \5 e; k& A, T0 S　　Had little poetry in their souls;
　　And Genghis Khan,

　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

　　Look to this age alone.
