On March 26, 2015, the Government of Alberta announced an increase in the liquor2 r! P5 [, [# T3 w
mark-up rates. The new rates will be effective as of March 27, 2015.8 T2 ^7 X' m! A( B1 W7 e: B' z& I
, C% U1 E/ J, ?; ^$ N1 g6 }The increase is a 22-cent per litre increase for most products. The exceptions are7 D; L6 }- e9 p1 d
products from small breweries, and products from cottage wineries that sell at farmers’
5 ^3 z& g. M# W. z( Pgates/markets, with no increase. Mid-sized breweries have an increase of 11 cents per
& {$ F' v3 @" b4 x1 r# X6 zlitre applied to their products. This across-the-board increase maintains the flat nature
/ \. J; W4 P y& {8 Fof Alberta’s liquor mark-up. In addition, Alberta will still have liquor mark-up rates that0 {! i9 o4 n3 q9 o7 _' g
are among the lowest in the country.( x3 N5 _9 y s7 r. \/ A7 Z# t

Some of the impacts on the wholesale prices are:5 N3 F4 M# C. r9 m- N$ z x+ ]( I, q
· Beer: 90 cents per dozen; approximately 8 cents per 341ml bottle or 355ml can.
- Z( U5 |* |$ U/ k# w$ o/ ]· Spirits: Approximately 16 cents per 750ml bottle.
