EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.0 G$ B2 h; G- O- x

The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

, B5 S, F# l5 O: J; Y: YPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

4 U6 H0 E* {5 h) F"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
