Anything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.
Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve)8 B4 E3 [- x( {6 j3 E

Close the main water inlet valve; 8 Q7 M$ f- n6 t iopen all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line;( a; K; W, }, x* H8 U0 r
Close the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one; & S9 \: c4 J) f3 Z" ^' e$ n1 }3 GShut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off; ( j _+ z- o; a* l6 i- yOpen the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out; 9 A, H& d9 U Z; c3 NThen remove the expansion valve, go to home or Canadian tire. they all have one. : h* `( Y7 H" ~ u9 c! e6 A! t: L

The drain hose is supposed to have water go thorough the humidifier filter inside the housing and then goes to drain when furnace is on. 0 ]. H a+ D2 ]( r: d2 j j" C+ U( B# s; l
If there is no crack at the housing connector, just re-do the connection when the furnace is off. ' }" Z T' X6 F/ s3 Q9 O4 M) ?" `3 b* W9 A
