Insurance required

not do any of the following:
z( ]4 p' M" j0 w( n( N(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor! }1 Z) K6 R: v
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
' K, V! W( j, |# O$ O# {, U(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
" B ?, n- t/ m7 h& Cvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
R; o0 \9 f7 a; x(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
4 O1 ~& ^- _ |" J1 M4 k* l& Gpermit another person! [" X( y- s8 c3 c
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or# p. Z0 s' C& Z6 b* a" c
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
( x5 J$ Y* ?( z. O9 J$ F! Nunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
- V; `4 U% f2 B. c, `(d) give or lend a financial
1 Z# ]+ h( ?- y1 Z- Hresponsibility card or a copy of it
* Y5 k2 R: w, `' e tto a person not entitled to have that financial& K. r& ]) E: ~7 Z" g$ K
responsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
2 f( h/ W S7 G( m. Dwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of5 r9 b n0 G0 M3 Y! m4 e! K& M5 C
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
4 k0 J: q w7 v, `" V5 i) z(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
8 X0 a8 R, U9 b5 f6 S. k, |- t- Hnot an insured motor vehicle.' c1 q8 H! u% B8 o$ S1 q

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
* e9 x4 n( R* p; EAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this1 L+ |; A2 P+ J+ `( N

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a3 w, V: z8 D0 o7 ^$ s
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the7 o! C- |/ X: k% W7 o1 h5 d% @2 v
Insurance Act
: p1 }6 j5 a( c# hby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy; y7 O" I2 a: d: ~2 l; a+ Z$ p5 ^
outside Alberta." j# n$ r/ p0 o# `0 h+ B

/ w2 s1 Q& v$ F/ f& u" fA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection" B- k' E1 c' a1 [
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,+ B2 h+ ?' e' x' t$ T
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500/ W, t' \4 b: u* O& K
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
$ k; D y+ Z3 ?0 l7 m4 A; Y0 ~imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
& R, P9 d- y! V c! smore than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
