) d3 v5 {' V, y% F* m' ]8 k( F5 F( s& M9 P# [7 I$ q
        1. I couldn't care less. $ X# g4 b) \5 t- V' c  L) L8 C6 _* Q9 i

# S! I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
4 V) C( i7 K" k3 {2 |; M5 |$ d7 i2 L9 P. M* Y. x7 D
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
" o4 J5 D) v8 d( z) G5 N$ q! ~2 D8 l3 w+ \0 A3 r2 ]
  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 5 h5 p, ^% Y( C

! i- I6 `* n* g" j- F, ~ How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) 0 N$ r+ J( q; _0 D4 j/ g' |2 S; n  E
1 j6 u& ]9 p( Y% P1 p) z
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
% m+ z- a/ b: \" K1 M7 Q" [, Y6 e2 J
L( s/ p; Y; h. v
: o1 z. F- F# J+ @
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) 3 Q5 @2 M, d& \1 H+ v
) N1 t% P( j: N
Yes, you do(care).
) h6 x9 D& s" R1 j4 b$ Y
% H. [9 A: Y2 D9 ^2 W 至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: 2 S3 O. z. {+ G- y1 p, h+ M
2 o! a( K6 s" N' O* ?( [
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 1 v0 T2 w" v0 k7 m3 w) i  E
0 V' u% t2 v/ H+ U; M- }# z( ]
I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
5 `4 g/ c5 D5 b; t5 Y  T7 N
4 h5 }8 q& {% v: ] I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
2 `! }1 s  |) P) R" Z& V$ v
, V9 u9 k+ J* g* J2 j' b# F: H6 o' p$ L+ h2 t2 g6 s- g( S! \4 ^
  I couldn't be more wrong.
# f6 X* Y4 t) t/ l( n
- b' [5 L4 @  N! 0 A' \, E% `' i" D1 r
5 p2 t! ?) X* G- L2 p+ q/ q: S+ y
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
/ x# B8 c7 K$ Y9 q
( b2 p; [# f& L7 N+ o I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
+ w6 D& E4 O- ?
% @) l* G$ b: b2 } 2. No bones about it.
7 i% M" m9 z9 W9 P- i" B/ d0 z: ~9 e
3 i( E  @2 e4 i( I 意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: 1 h/ S7 C5 C. j8 A5 y- S5 P
# a6 W  E1 J+ J5 m# P
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) 4 D8 }& T( \3 J( b' m& y7 ~  p
4 {2 [& E/ w2 c) T* p. l
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) * x8 H+ {* W% m3 O2 f6 e% j
; s# {7 M/ L4 |0 e/ H
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) / c' N4 t) K! T3 |( I

8 Z2 a1 B5 N5 x2 I No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) 1 z' S- \  |. ]6 R  W8 G
% _! B' Z0 p8 C- a8 ~- z( {' L
  3. take it on me! ! z8 U0 Y3 h8 d6 E7 p% K, G
* ^" m7 S$ F7 w2 |5 ]( C
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: ' _% g) B4 J6 V% M! W; ~+ ~5 @6 Y, K  |

! Q5 |* I% F4 V4 V: u2 F4 _4 @# f7 l Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) 4 j. N0 e5 V1 r' Q4 u

3 A" \5 `3 L" a- K. S  s* F* @5 J: u The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
, g& R8 ~8 F4 w' r8 d! @$ w, R5 ]! t! n
Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
+ u+ |; ?, v7 e! [7 T$ J, U, |/ W
( t; i& N, C8 d 可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。 9 C' U7 |4 ^& t  o3 ]3 [
/ t# J5 ^: U$ C0 r, O
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
: ?! o: U$ Y$ i3 U& x' h" r. d3 v8 r! H+ }
  4. I am from Missouri. / y, O7 l& `% |2 F' h2 k( _$ X

, [1 M* Y: O1 q4 ` 这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
& L9 w2 j/ n  [) Q
0 \% v* Q/ C' E4 k2 W: O: T
2 g+ e6 e8 `/ X' _$ y He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. # F5 b0 S; O' w) k( g
4 r2 r( h" f' t; e/ u
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) " }  I) T+ ^& C

3 r# m0 M* F# z9 o6 q( [- ? We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. 4 y! `; r4 n5 Y8 u) r, a

# u, ~' T. q. j As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri.
