I agree that the oil sand is dirty. But as an energy source it’s still safer/cleaner than nuclear power and coal mine.

In Alberta, oil sand is the only reason we still have a sustainable ecosystem. It’s what brings food to our dinner table. Guess you wouldn’t be caring much about the “dirtiness” if your kids are starving.

I did watch the video. You were right that the pollution can be further reduced. But oil-sands emissions are far, far from the dark-shirted villain some have made them out to be. Even if you do three million barrels a day, the cumulative global-warming impact is 0.02 to 0.05 degrees Celsius after like, a century? That’s nothing compared to the car CO2 emissions.

The complaints are mainly from these people:
Alcoholic natives claimed “health problems” so they can get more funding.
Jealous Non-Alberta North Americans because they WISH they had an oil sand like ours.
Tree huggers and researchers because they need to justify their existence through the media.

As far as the REAL environmental impact goes, yes there are tailing ponds. So? Someone wants to fish in there?

How about you answer this question: You work in the oil field (or related). It is paying your car, your food, your cloth and your rent. Why are you bashing it?

Trying to show us that you're taking those dirty money while you still have a heart for the ENVIRONMENT?

加拿大企业在环境保护和工业安全方面的意识比欧洲和美国企业要差很多，我觉得他们的法规执行不象欧美那么严。企业管理差更多。
油沙开采的＂污染＂问题主要在能源的消耗，就是CO２的排放。这个和大家开车烧油一样，但很少人关心CO２，大家关心的是油价。

Any human activities produce pollution, if you look a environment without human beings is pure"nature". But if you look human activities are also part of this nature world, everything is nature and normal.

Oil sands industry in Alberta is well controlled. All the mining area will be recovered to original condition after operation. We need some time do do this.

While you are in a surgery, you are close to death, you look horrible. But you will be better after that, and you clearly know that. Same situation with our great oil sands mine .

同意小黄，相信这种视频的都是些不用脑子的人。

视频中的根本不算什么污染，很多是生产过程中的画面，都是UNDERCONTROL。很多环保人士是非常愚蠢的
