Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.

" z; `1 ~; [; X) X6 z5 nA male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.+ j# W( E; y7 m+ _; m8 X/ W( I
3 o# Y, E* i$ b `Police arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.

1 W2 a* [4 J; A7 |A search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.5 }- S6 _7 \; p8 c- {2 ~5 F6 Y

A man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge.
