Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.

% `3 j- U k7 |2 p# }! R) A2 G( p9 X' w/ NA male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

. r T7 Q7 E# s- o) yPolice arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.

A search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.

4 L7 H8 B. z; L W' f4 M1 Y8 xA man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge.
