CALGARY — A teen girl was taken to Foothills Hospital in potentially life-threatening condition Monday morning after a head-on collision that involved a "complicated extrication" near Chestermere.

: w$ l# I. F* O" W% { h4 DAt around 8:30 a.m., RCMP, Chestermere fire crews and Calgary EMS personnel were called to Highway 791 just east of Calgary after a pick-up truck and smaller car crashed head-on, said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux.+ m, u3 Z/ o W" s6 B% l

The female driver in her mid-teens, who was the lone occupant of the small car, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by fire crews.7 S5 I' m6 D- K; o. W5 g0 l; K( t% |- j9 s
