YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
7 {& }& X  y, |, G- ?' D( Tnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
+ N# S9 ]/ X- cpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

# P! f2 c; ~9 ~7 `: j( dproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
9 w2 a9 N! Q9 E7 \; }2 ~/ gemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
% R: h5 n7 w: UThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
- U& O8 a$ E- A, s( o2 A$ Iparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
: H" m; [! t( ~$ dpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
! L0 D- B" g/ I4 EYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
