T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
$ v- m7 K7 }4 f9 e, LAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering ! e# Y$ f& B3 i$ {& k/ T2 t6 K
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
3 Z" F/ F+ q. x, ]interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, 5 ~7 V( ]' D( s. D: `
and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

Program Schedule:
* l0 ^# v; R+ u, }: \% I p/ k8 B0 R( m% CRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
+ B, B8 x0 G% Q" b1 @9 r* H- s- RSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
4 u$ [. b' H# _3 M- Y 2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Who can participate?, X- a. B& i( r
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.9 E1 z) t$ B5 I y( N/ p- a/ [# T) e! Q
, F# M. l8 P1 G7 SWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?- s0 k( D- ]$ Z& d! i* K
It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group./ K. [5 K% u& j m
! H- `" e4 K5 t- s9 V- @% [% W4 Y z- Q( n) a/ A% N! Q1 o3 r0 r
Volunteer’s Duties:

9 J& z f$ K; J; `% b" O9 Z$ _ Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
7 |3 _+ q+ _1 N' J4 m Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
* J+ w6 j0 E, Q5 B* s7 o Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
% r2 L) Q8 x! T9 {1 o Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
: x1 Y. c W' c7 Y8 z7 M- J1 @ Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
" m7 u+ z% v( X8 s Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips) L) U9 z3 m, K
 Assist in program planning

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)( n0 `& G: O8 a0 f; Z
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer' t9 e, T i7 W+ L2 t V9 c

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator
& h0 Z3 \3 C3 b; ?6 c# _ Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision9 U( K! W3 g. |5 q% n# S: P
 Value the building on strengths of children, youth and families; L8 Y! q) B& N6 O+ h
 Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
