T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip : O3 W4 R0 D6 p! Q: m# k' ]$ f
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering
" x8 j! X, K; q$ Bopportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
# @3 `7 U$ C5 O2 E) t% X7 Jinterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, * ]1 A2 n% Z; ~- p' ~4 Z, a: T
and  Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.$ r1 j# A/ d) Z, a+ z$ v' L  R

 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation
" R. ?1 S* Q- W" N6 J Learn how to access community services and programs

Program Schedule:
; H9 H" K( i8 I+ y* J) RRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
, w6 H5 u8 z  E( B8 r; iSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
, u- F2 `1 {: f. N, M" F$ M                              2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
) M6 ~2 f% @1 P" y. T7 _+ U6 E/ {
' \' y) _3 N+ X9 L: zWho can participate?
3 g' P" @! l8 ~* @% k; s$ s6 WAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.( _- O2 K- {2 r+ W& t  s! O
) I9 r+ R- |  F
What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
/ `( }/ v% ]- J9 aIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.5 t1 ^5 {6 {9 x4 @9 [

# a; ^  H: q, FVolunteer’s Duties:
/ s# {, J- D6 P: v$ z' \7 D# v0 P* a  P
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies * j( x' W: T  r9 X9 P1 s
 Facilitate and/or coordinate   activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
: q/ B! s, o; ?  u2 c2 v& y. E Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
2 Z; r" Q! n1 h. U5 c( D Facilitate or assist in small group discussions$ T* B! m7 k, I7 s  H
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
3 @# _/ W1 q" s, z Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
; v# j/ h$ D6 o1 e! M( Y Assist in program planning
; b) I. o; Y% i1 U3 S1 }6 A. [ Be a role model
* i& y) U0 z' y5 h0 X5 B3 b# u" E, W8 l3 G+ ~& J
Volunteer Commitment:
8 t/ |+ K# n1 M& S
# A4 G0 ^5 O& [ On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
% l2 W% N( h8 }3 z! v# y5 k One time volunteers:  minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer4 X$ G& E  }' a% W* z
+ v' S% H. v" k3 \+ I/ y

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator
* h2 ^+ E4 \% q/ i. ]' V- @ Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program
' d+ q  @! @5 n( P" k% ? A team player
/ v0 i1 X- [9 {1 S. R Able to work independently with minimum supervision
3 N0 m, ?1 J% ]  N9 W- z% J Value the building on strengths of  children, youth and families
' g" I7 `, I( K+ h8 G5 x! h Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
