T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip

interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
5 ?& J+ k+ k3 }2 l! x. e( band  Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.6 }, w5 ]( t' K4 t

0 ~2 @3 A& A% P$ {; DEach session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.9 k( I2 x3 ^# D+ k6 P' R4 C

These activities will enable youth to:2 h1 O% i0 G; B0 ^6 |( G
 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation
- ?; K: f3 o) ^ Learn how to access community services and programs

 Identify personal leadership strengths …

Program Schedule:3 r! p3 c' s( s. B1 O, n$ m
Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
& s) D* b+ v. VSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
# t" A$ u7 Y; F3 Q& H                              2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily2 q% |4 V" W4 \$ X8 _

2 m% x/ n, g+ Y! \* P5 h! z7 W1 eWho can participate?
6 z, G0 c. ~$ o/ CAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

) t3 n* X4 A) d! f: F; NWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
: f6 _( G0 V) j: B" a& s4 E5 uIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.% q4 n5 Y( V. F- {' g

+ {' d$ [2 h/ D6 E  E; Y5 G" V& E0 g8 v  |/ D( c
Volunteer’s Duties:1 R9 q& C4 _5 d7 S, I' t# @* ^# Q" \

1 _& N( |+ ]: H" | Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
8 W$ F4 ?/ i- ~2 _ Facilitate and/or coordinate   activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
8 f4 @! F; v+ a/ E Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
! X8 J4 m" s/ P5 c Facilitate or assist in small group discussions+ Q1 }; v5 o0 b8 f4 d: O
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
+ J4 M) o" }, j- p7 `  M% X. W& w0 I Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips# S+ }. U- \7 p. l) I* N$ n& Z- a
 Assist in program planning
5 Z3 v# q. Y( e1 { Be a role model4 Z0 |7 X, L3 Q
4 V& ~8 C2 G2 t+ a
Volunteer Commitment:/ J& M, `3 t& i+ p( A* d

* X. l2 i  J5 J8 y0 e On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
6 ^0 d5 t& N1 [% g0 u One time volunteers:  minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator+ v8 p. a" K; F4 g' |9 j. {! u
 Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program3 Y# _9 j  z' O3 }
 A team player
& u9 ~7 D2 P1 o' `' f1 L Able to work independently with minimum supervision4 H' n4 k* Q6 p; s  t$ z* p
 Value the building on strengths of  children, youth and families
/ C5 u( J2 A0 |# t Willing to work with youth including youth at risk0 }$ D/ j5 J0 N& _+ U
