Financial Literacy Trainer / Coordinator

In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

9 t. }- B8 Y* aSEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. * A) M8 l/ j8 k M, f
SEDI is staffed to:
% w' k" p q" \1 F. V1 G• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
) W1 t6 c* z5 p" p' N' i• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners % y: {3 ^+ _8 k* q% F7 a" |
• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation % E0 l: C" i+ o. N" L
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs
" }5 P* }' Z% W5 ~* A% D- A$ L• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits * B& F* W9 Z- [* |
• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses

3 x- F: e4 c+ J' d. u1 gPrimary Responsibilities and Activities:
/ W& u1 T4 k2 e6 X# a) ~& G1 i• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada
" j+ }- [; W% p P- F1 P• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) 3 U% y; q' v- X* n7 ?! D
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required $ W; w$ H# G8 y* V. V) C& k
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities 7 x1 |* }2 }6 G* @
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team # F" b$ o; {1 W: ^# G; x; p
• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required

* `) O1 g! m4 G' ~) d• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies
( T. S% e& \/ K# ?) ^4 P1 M• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners 5 h0 J9 \5 b y+ M0 s- B
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting " X |! Z! T$ E$ x: G
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports ' T# T. E/ q. d! e
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

7 W' F# Q7 W* @• Demonstrated group facilitation experience
9 R% |# ~ t7 T( h2 d* A• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
% S( {4 `+ n: [( U+ M0 @' e• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training
5 D& B- a. w; `• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
6 k# `+ _. n$ `& ]% M• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams 2 r3 ~* z' a! P- F" D
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals

• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them " k3 A, s2 T7 [
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc

• Content / curriculum development experience

• Excellent organizational skills
