Edmonton police assured residents that they had no reason to be fearful, but officers did ask neighbours for their shoe sizes and vital stats during a canvass of the area.

Lynn Gregory, vice-president of the Capilano Community League, was surprised to hear about the ongoing homicide investigation.

“We get the odd B-and-E and car theft around here, but other than that, not too much (crime),” she said.; |: C2 O+ R, P( n

The slain woman, whose name has not been released, is the city’s 24th homicide victim of 2010.
