Responsibilities
/ Z4 q3 J! t) s" U1 B Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
+ X8 |0 ]/ ^+ q* a' y2 l, Z. n4 D; L Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
 Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
) L3 t# E6 i* |) M' A' b2 p Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
; ]  Y4 l, W) h; i: _) R3 i; O Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
. I+ [" h" G' X. r! E Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
 Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
! \) `% w5 Z( D' u0 t+ U# {2 T' v Social work degree or diploma
0 |' J0 V; k+ S8 u4 p7 j7 r Current RSW designation preferred   
* H: g5 _+ Z/ {1 D Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
6 g9 L( I9 I* X Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
4 M/ t, H( i( [+ B( \" Y0 o Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
 Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
* o! a3 }. g1 ~0 n9 k Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
