Key Responsibilities & Duties:

( f  t3 d; X2 w7 e$ _) D  l Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
/ j9 v! i' I; r  `( f$ T, g Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
7 Y$ n) \- K* h. j  n3 y7 H3 W1 z" w Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
( @$ b7 `/ ^' R9 K Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
8 M& E0 F% w! `& ~9 \9 H Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
6 p/ ?  h2 U( p Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
4 J" o0 }8 B: Z5 o Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
, `5 O% n- y0 i5 k1 H) p! b Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

) ?3 C- j" B* g2 @. n% P Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
! ]" n& D' W1 R+ L7 J- p5 _! X Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
6 _6 c' j+ P' c! k6 s+ ]% m Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
3 q1 R3 K" |4 E) S2 \7 e! R Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.
% Y% y+ I( T" r/ y) f
; _4 e4 C# {# ~6 u+ K4 s; G$ iPosition:
: g$ w' F: f, V9 DThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
7 J! B/ i9 ^2 Astarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
