FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

/ u9 {) {$ E1 D: h; B- ]DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
9 B0 P6 }- }# a; _( h# \Enterprise Data
7 k9 o# H' W& j# P• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
# k+ S: p7 B/ J' i• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
1 ]9 M% ^( T5 ^! R5 h8 C$ w& x• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
; \1 D, f& K$ d, gBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
! m- ]( `5 `0 ^7 z' G5 Y• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
  {* n3 S$ ^) f9 P- r4 q7 b. Z• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
7 L, a) T: P' T% O: C2 {• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
& k5 E& Y! K  z  s• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
7 j7 U; t3 h/ v* A' ]• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- _5 q! v' Y" S; H" D• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
$ \" d: s8 @; x1 f! o4 m5 s. P• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
  x+ u6 Q& q, j/ z• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
2 G( X, E! f: t• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
3 s# H1 J' j) i, s• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
$ l9 E% o! H9 u. N• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
: ^9 x/ [3 s9 E, q) r• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
0 A! n1 L3 f! g- E• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
