FUNCTION:
) M; M! }6 C% x- Z; dAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
! _6 `+ L2 e4 Z" \5 I3 J, F% i• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
6 O( `# ?  m# j7 W! r" A4 P0 T# p• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
8 }& Y) l$ j5 f1 W( a  H• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- D# o) V0 b, o• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
" P1 d$ _3 |4 Z3 @) i% H• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
- Y* d7 O: a5 \6 b# l9 R! p• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
& [3 j9 ~6 V. v$ S" ^/ Y• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
: m! H. Y9 {$ R# i# T/ J$ u• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
5 r& b. J$ y4 U+ C$ u8 v, t. i* J• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
