Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ' l- Y* B9 W2 x" w5 H$ |$ x" E

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
9 D/ J' X$ u7 Y* dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 4 ^ H" F F; \+ p( J5 [
the Board of Directors;
8 n2 j0 y! I9 |# D• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations , t- A7 R2 W4 I+ F o3 o
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
5 c; {" Y8 V6 k# H3 xenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; / a$ a- ^1 f' a1 L. b& k. C# R
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and / y& \+ I& c* C. h- h& Y# B
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by ! P$ o* h) {# L: T
the board; ; o% ?7 {3 r. g8 e, G8 J1 ?7 m- ~
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
+ I, x9 u: T6 ~ Y• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
& ] I5 U; r# N* U0 C! _: ?the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
; U2 s4 o# \- e2 }$ w/ `• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " w) y u0 ?% M; p4 Z
changing needs of the organization and community; : q6 j ~% H4 Q, a2 L
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
0 T3 ~/ w( a: ?* q) E7 fcommitments; " A7 g. T1 C, ^2 y/ ?
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
& a( P- ^. Q q+ o" J0 F7 ?• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 7 f- U. r, {8 A, k
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
( G: u7 K$ A8 Y8 n• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 2 L2 v/ R' [& g. Q
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
+ P% Z$ j8 _: E' o* g0 ~' Xeffectively and positively represent the association; 6 c3 e0 y6 i7 C2 U" y
; G/ l \0 y: F/ j- `• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 5 k& c2 f# E7 z
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
, }7 F# ]$ r+ u/ s: q: v• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 5 y, ]1 m( _# w9 r( Y
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED + B; R) l' P8 j _! p
the forthcoming year; ( K6 ^8 h% `" V1 z. F% |
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ' B& M$ B3 e i$ W3 w
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
% d5 k+ [3 v0 \' q! t' A6 `: a I% IYWCA Canada; and & t% _. X; T! d. G# Q" p
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task * `7 z7 m, H/ z. v0 v2 o. {9 @

Required Professional Designation / Certification
" K; |4 Y) M S" Y• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. * j1 K8 j! X5 i7 W+ U

Required Experience
( h& \ r0 Y4 v9 K• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
3 m$ r+ b- w* C( G3 g0 j3 n) f$ O• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
! n/ t! K, t0 |6 Aabilities; % q/ |# T3 T1 c' T
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, . b- A* j$ }( [. ?) u9 C; ^
Networking and Fundraising;
