The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic 7 J/ g% X$ R$ J0 |5 V( r
thinking and be both enthusiastic and an outstanding communicator / relationship builder to lead

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
* |' K4 k9 T- c d2 i" k" gexecution of the YWCA Strategy

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 H4 K. o6 O* ?- v2 X6 Ethe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
! ?$ k+ u' s, I% {3 J8 d, ^the Board of Directors; ! g' h8 }2 X3 u( x
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations % o& _9 v, ^( |8 y: p
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
; e) @* H; |: Yenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' {, U/ o! w- d$ ~1 K! ?
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
! ]2 o) T& Q3 a; ?$ iobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
1 L& e9 M6 R9 ? r" Y5 Jthe board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 6 U2 D( Y& E" q& `) b2 ?
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; % \( \+ x1 W) }
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 4 ~0 Q. }4 g9 L& M
changing needs of the organization and community; , Z( N: D* D: S8 ~1 N8 q
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 u# o1 O2 N8 B
commitments; 6 N/ I( V% N7 J" z. h
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
. | [1 L" u: a; z+ X• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
2 F7 d) `+ A4 W6 m$ I1 Dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
1 n# A5 J0 J- G* r• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , z6 X, M% K/ p0 ]* H7 |
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
2 f2 m" U+ s: W! M' s# P! Seffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 _$ J6 k# N9 ?$ x4 u% L; M
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
/ J, Y7 F3 r; q: M6 W* c• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
- w) f' s7 r4 F& r4 r+ kperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , u/ X8 P6 S! ~, K2 P0 p* G1 L
the forthcoming year; & O C% |) Q' L9 z$ G, ~# ~
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
7 Y% }2 u: I ^0 g! Z/ Y; Lpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
3 K) }# h$ @; z. R- Z! F% S( BYWCA Canada; and
# Q. B" J6 O4 @ `• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task $ L, J5 Y2 i7 V3 O
Forces.

Required Professional Designation / Certification
8 R: q) D7 C8 C! H3 R! p1 u• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. ) o& N( R) c2 h2 R) S0 z

Required Experience ' z+ B$ E( Z/ i: }) |
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; , \$ z+ R2 q/ ^, ~3 i
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
% r" e: h9 N: Vabilities;
! f2 M K: R3 i1 }1 B, m5 g4 d; S• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
+ [) C" N, \ w; C. J( w. K/ U Q; x jNetworking and Fundraising; + z: w& ~' S3 Z* i9 l8 n7 m
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( ?2 e7 o% w7 Land financial statements; and : z% c, D1 e" }/ o. k0 n
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women % C) L) n- B8 c( ^! {1 z2 D4 W( A
centered perspective.
