this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 1 A( {" K/ d3 n" z# B& {
execution of the YWCA Strategy
. B8 h* O9 m4 g$ L% g* S* a& D 0 ?  o4 H, X4 a* C8 F
Specific responsibilities include:  ; {2 O5 t" j' E3 i" L5 N& N
* n" ], ^5 U1 y# w$ C
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ; q& O( E7 V4 ]* K% Z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ( i3 o6 `- c; N# D- N/ o4 E
the Board of Directors;  
& D& q3 u/ W5 t! k•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
" V9 }( n/ i8 {, ]5 Gincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
- O8 u, r# T, b  wenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ! I$ I: k1 G6 J! O. r
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and : b6 X5 ]' L; ?. v* k* S; c
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
3 e1 d, z8 H2 f2 \the board;  * @( Q# B4 \/ S6 Z* c5 Z
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  ! s2 R4 {  x4 U- E* D
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 9 }9 H9 u, Q9 D1 C6 n; o3 u- E7 n
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
, Y& x6 h% G, t: Z. s2 U' {•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 7 C$ P5 c* W9 @9 ?' v& D
changing needs of the organization and community; 4 b. W. c0 p  T* L) c9 K7 p% G3 ^0 U
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + h2 \' ?% B* F* q/ @
commitments;
- q( i0 ^0 A) c3 N! M•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  & d8 V0 l* b# v: {: [) ]1 M
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
; _0 j  c$ Y3 ~# Y) o8 pselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  - E" h6 o) I. T# |3 _) y" p, B$ ~
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
) \0 G0 G; o$ J  g! [+ d) x3 }•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to . P& Q" j1 D  R& V, G! `
effectively and positively represent the association;
+ J, p- u' b0 c& I* x
# j# `* r. ^( p2 W6 c$ z$ _•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
0 ]. r/ J1 _! {8 ?( m- I5 O2 a! xthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
; \# R* t( f7 B2 y5 R•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal   g4 M) h: T9 h: U4 H, @# p3 f
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED - r+ H2 h7 a6 @! q6 D' \8 z- E, M+ Z
the forthcoming year;  & j# w: c7 h8 p* s' C9 `$ |0 u
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical " A5 h5 e, q1 |
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
0 e( A2 d; V7 j. k% l1 V9 SYWCA Canada; and
+ B# Y. P+ l% C4 ^•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
5 b0 c# h3 ?* W* y7 a1 ]' s7 eForces.

0 X" P( I& h! R•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
2 g$ j+ P) ?) z3 c$ P# _, H•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
" J; P- n+ V% Laround decisions, plans and actions;
7 }) u: V) y& Z•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; * G8 c5 O* n, e8 \  }
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable * K# m. q& a1 j1 f6 C3 a, }
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
4 c' x% v% C/ [•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks ! o1 Z- C% @$ w1 _; B
simultaneously;
2 l; Z; @& D  J# k3 ]5 z/ x+ r0 u•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
/ T; m  X7 _# j  H* ~) X. Z/ @- Arapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
; O4 P. Q3 G# M  k2 I+ P7 ~•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and 4 |2 A6 j9 f/ N" i
•  Superior negotiation skills. % }. F# K# v  |4 e% ]

- v1 T4 V" B% s9 c Required Professional Designation / Certification 6 u( z* z  i, s$ F
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
1 B% v$ c3 P# ?+ h5 w* A$ z. D+ h
7 }* _5 r: E. y: YRequired Experience
2 V8 z: R0 f% s6 Q* S•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
3 b$ O1 X0 o( l/ h# j1 i, E) R•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
2 M0 C, d" s2 z4 T& mabilities;
  |& \) n! C$ R7 {+ [•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ) `( n- ~, l: A: N9 c+ ]
Networking and Fundraising;
% s4 m: G# u; @. \; R5 J5 U•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting . i2 U: k+ B% t- I* K$ @
and financial statements; and
& g  h9 v4 d+ M# J•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women , l3 Q  a( q9 R$ p, y' c8 B  P. P
centered perspective.
