In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
! F) ~1 d6 B+ rPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
2 O$ t" }. ^# {& S7 n4 d' b, V, b" [( uAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
7 x6 L9 }! N0 L, Z" QOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
4 m# l8 ?4 O3 b& {Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
! v6 g6 a. q' Z7 s( W, V- Q; \7 a. yMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
: O- H5 G% A+ K3 {Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
, X& m. ]) s0 L- }% r* jEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
- {4 f0 K' r# i" S; y4 DAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
# W9 W! d! |! e) R8 RIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
, O2 x( O3 G$ J. v1 z3 wEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

2 K; c+ g8 n' a: b9 h1 ?4 qA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
5 |. y# j4 b9 `/ {Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
9 {$ }* x. ^! k0 _& VPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
, t9 G0 ~# W: \; l. g- K5 i0 R- O4 QPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
* I; d8 n4 Y& d) T3 gIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
% N( [3 |# f4 I6 jProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
