! r; H# Z4 @6 h" U2 D$ BIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
7 t( U; ]! X8 e$ YPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
* e" s9 S5 K: V; F' a  d+ ZOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
' W8 {9 q% b% n5 X. s. bExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
2 @1 D% }0 r& J% p( m/ Y$ ?Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
Qualifications
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
& B8 Y: C; \! p! a4 T( j: f% p6 _$ FPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ K4 [& }& \& H. t1 XProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
