2 b: ^' K3 o5 A2 A" O# nIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
4 _" _ q3 C" pPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 6 J1 H- D( K. [! v$ Q6 ]2 a
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. : J: ?, @9 x: [3 g
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
2 z3 J: h0 d" V* [; zMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
/ x$ P* N3 |. l, _2 k" r% {Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
1 `% W& X6 \; v8 K6 q# r# V# ?Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. $ T8 k9 O: `" m; X+ V, c
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 8 [, ^/ K" o6 D
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
! G0 J8 t8 E7 F& E5 RAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 0 m3 P O: n6 I) O: }1 x6 |3 x
Qualifications / L# m6 P3 H% H" j; b. W
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
8 d( a+ Y% T6 H. B5 H& L. qPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. - b! @) F# k9 s% Z
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
' V J7 T/ F( Z6 e i2 T: n# |Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
/ q8 J. ]0 z( r9 H& D k6 QIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 3 |6 E+ K6 V N
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
