In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. / {" C5 I5 J0 L0 @- t
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. $ g1 V" s% D( d+ k: v4 ]
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 1 a9 U3 x, r: H/ E+ L U7 H
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ! n$ g/ \( x4 @7 O+ ~- w
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 9 {- o$ i, I* d1 `
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
7 x, L/ a: Z! BExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
$ j* Z2 W; t3 p7 C; uEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
1 ?" H; N4 E% C5 dDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
" Q7 k0 C0 C6 M& K& P BAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
/ l/ _% ~2 P" y# JIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. 1 r$ s( V# d' Y
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ; j/ G$ y3 ^5 e. I1 u
Qualifications
# z7 a5 b, f# Q' |( ]8 a: \A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
. S, k+ A9 e9 Z0 Y$ `* E$ HPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
* P$ g3 R9 I( a1 K; C7 n: |+ c* bPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
( R: g$ [2 s e( R) s3 R( |Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 9 H/ }2 c4 C R) P. n
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ; ?& n+ _. x# o* [ z$ X" I
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
