Responsibilities
Y2 }: Y9 \3 q4 N8 f# C9 E1 t2 oIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
$ a; I1 k: b( j! [7 e! a: ?Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. , y& q; b9 \. m1 q; g% e# D# T( w9 V# B$ ~
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. % H( C* L9 z% x" Z8 v
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
7 \* L8 c% k" h: ]* r% `/ QMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
0 U% T8 h% ]4 W1 p& Z5 Y4 pMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
* A/ A& a9 O: h" W5 U. ~Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. - ` D" l5 @' k# W) I# k% F3 R
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
6 b. I) ?" m: f- h$ K4 TDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
! L0 B+ j1 ^& G- n% n0 P( aAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
/ l0 Y+ }" K- G6 g, t' nIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. * d' J5 }; `1 [4 w e
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. & j" N4 |% h' {0 L( ?
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. ( H ~' w1 x1 x" e$ D
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
: w. k& I: o' t; f" G. ?Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
1 j. x5 ], h: ~Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
% v, E7 k* s- C9 T9 X/ N7 u" wProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
