Duties
$ E3 i1 ?3 K+ S- P% V- x+ t7 H$ f
R, o3 _3 w; G- T( ?9 B * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
; _% w D0 Y0 z$ [/ S * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr+ Q6 H4 \- e6 W* v) n/ g/ L/ U
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
$ O& Q' B3 G( l! u * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations( L$ d8 h/ @4 V( l5 R+ l: z& T% w, v
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations, R. f4 ?* c6 z, T6 W+ b* ?

# B# H# E; D5 [# V" e. }) @( Z" l4 A& S" v7 K
* Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred7 t" i* }8 `% X: |
* Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation3 ~9 `* w/ M! a) r5 |% w: N: n
* Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers8 H+ y! e. x! W/ G* `- }1 c
* WHMIS training [$ ~2 p/ N+ g* }3 D# Z
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
