Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. We are looking for 4 temporary full time summer staff.

(8 week contract @ 35 hours a week)

Key Responsibilities Include:6 s# F2 U9 g. q1 I- H2 \9 H( U
Activity Planning and Daily Activity1 s" P* I0 n8 q3 H! z6 c% J
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
6 ~3 G" \/ `, B: Z2 \• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
/ M! w1 A7 b) X1 y1 G2 H8 {7 ~3 f• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
; W1 t) M) H: T j C6 k+ z8 e: [$ j• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.1 g1 v. R( i: s0 t" O/ G; b7 ?
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
6 W' {3 M+ p7 ?, a• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.; T- L# d. J* {& x9 @) S
0 x# ^+ T! A! v! F! MThe successful candidate will have:
/ O$ u! r" v' R+ O• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting1 B* l0 w) m) ?2 X/ U0 c
• Experience with children" h- E3 R% {$ m
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
& H4 z! N ?; }- m• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.- j+ c' F# f4 I+ C
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
+ I5 t% j6 d7 M$ A9 G. y• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources I% R% Z# `3 E" S1 s, E. w
• Documentation of a clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 2 D& D3 f& S) p+ W9 \, S! o) |
• Documentation of a clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
& E' C: ~! U% A/ X- d2 k* z, k
