/ O( \9 |6 w& m" _Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include
& ?( T- `6 Z% F- C4 yActivity Planning and Daily Activity5 t* G$ o) V; l4 x; O) [
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
( G8 h" N- ~4 ~( k8 [% h L, V• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
$ ^" p! `* |$ }4 `• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
6 b3 w0 N- b# U/ y& i: u! l• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
$ w. m6 N% c0 @, ~0 r• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
5 ~! X8 V$ X/ v; a, a/ j- S6 X• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.' ?4 G% n' ?4 o4 \1 e, u5 d

• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
, P0 ^ c2 z9 C2 S) W6 D9 ~; G• Experience with children" {# G6 b; ]( D2 z
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
9 Q4 I2 I" t0 O• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.' ?/ J3 ^9 i# \# r3 N; @7 _
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
5 P7 z; p/ N% D! _• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
; H& X# D- ^& a( \# g* z4 o• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
; l! o/ a p6 a0 i+ [• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check . g) z( m0 I1 ]- b, z) B4 U2 X1 w
