4 Y* O9 Z: w' O; AFAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

+ Z7 t5 l% J$ o/ L$ EFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. k# @& ]" m7 Vscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

5 a: j2 M" V8 m- p; BJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
2 C; _8 N0 x( \( N4 ^4 u* p* E: U! nwell as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
: w* v6 s1 L" _% E7 t/ q! o- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
7 L% h. f% ?! {9 h' Y! [( Y- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. e# z* w5 ^" {9 K8 s- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

  T. c+ G7 M2 ^  x: G- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
+ y, k, j- I  Csecondary training, university preferred
5 z$ Z, t! D8 C- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

6 u9 V. o3 V+ x+ pQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
8 o! |7 u2 i. G5 L& U6 c, P- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
% O3 R( X7 r8 h/ V$ G/ Z4 d$ m- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
/ F$ q6 Y8 d& C6 G  [- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
