FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
% A0 I5 k/ Q0 K6 D0 a+ y3 }Alberta.

* d6 K* D1 [1 B$ S5 S; A2 p  eFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
; m' p$ D  G8 S0 e! a6 w$ S( Dwell as the script, magazine and book library.

4 {8 }2 u& M. C. U1 V6 H/ y; [- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
  s: Q& P; g9 E2 T" |+ m- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
8 J6 m2 y; K, }& F' w" V- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

: i3 U& v4 S" y1 H- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
2 G# F" G- l4 z7 Y7 L0 O- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
" t% Y8 _& x  N8 e1 n- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
! h$ Y& q. p; |4 J& Z& {+ {# A- F; E- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

, ^3 _1 i7 a- T4 M" j- j3 CQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
3 Z6 \# U+ a6 Y' f" b: s- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
