FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

* F/ Y4 {' ]5 n& \! l; c& d7 remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
/ T7 _6 Q- c7 l5 r7 C, ?resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

+ N- M- E5 x( ~- IJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
) H! }" ~" x1 t9 ]1 _% {) U4 l0 B# [" Eassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

: m& S; `7 h4 s: tDuties:
( m* X* ~' {# ~6 B6 I- O- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
( Q& J( r, k# u, s- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
7 y5 L( I9 {7 K- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
  ]7 j+ \( Z9 q- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
  l9 V& ]4 Y0 {1 x6 n- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
' ~0 U0 H9 t) L5 x7 G- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
4 F" z6 r) P+ Y* [- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
