( e( L+ l0 y% H0 ZFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
5 P  C* i! ]6 O9 O: [( C' Cwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

' [  O: Q6 U9 r& E0 v0 HFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
* u  r/ ?! x5 q% O0 P9 A  jemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
* v, f0 a+ D' {7 c: rand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
+ Y# o6 r1 ]4 `resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

+ q* v& Z) G6 |* [Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

) {9 J0 g* h  @Duties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
& O- r, J# z/ m" _3 Q8 w- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
, k* L( C$ m: \, l# }, F5 V- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
" A/ S; U! P0 A+ G- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
' f" \! ]( d9 _2 \Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
2 A# k* [& q- a3 k5 Ksecondary training
3 x2 ]) z2 l: `* s0 x; o; l4 d- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
  [% M. t( X! P; M3 k6 }/ l- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

0 h. `; Z& K7 K/ U* t3 `! ]" cQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
& K$ W+ Y' V; n* [+ p- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
$ s9 v( W: U3 y. K! ?; P/ z- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
/ G& f( z$ Q3 q5 ^- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
1 b% \/ j3 l2 A& i, s- Strong team player abilities
