Duties

" E1 S3 m' ~9 h- r) h * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications/ M( U- Q' w5 r& v6 b( ]
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis) f+ N6 U, i4 O" x$ | H' z/ ^
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance+ ]2 ]" N8 ^7 P
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students : e4 S6 s' @* B8 z( |2 g8 B1 Y
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
& `3 q& z$ F) i5 } * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs

Qualifications

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
$ b% o1 v7 X: A3 X! }4 n, a * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
