Duties
/ z8 W# i& _1 n+ ]2 H* u& n/ j: P& \# M; N; ? i/ _* U( {0 d
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
( I$ [7 K# N$ M2 i. ` * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis3 L9 V8 T8 i, V6 ^ |' _
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance! x4 r& @1 V s8 Q
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students ! S H+ [' X: f- _4 q4 F
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies$ i+ k$ G$ B ^* B. {+ }
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs* J" {9 g1 y6 E$ n( q
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment/ @( H( U' s5 N+ u, x- h# C

Qualifications
) L( |- G7 ?' W1 Z( l/ N2 e1 m1 R; k3 [: h5 Y
* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
! V- i5 ~" N& X1 _* G * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
