A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.& W% F5 B7 E5 b
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and5 s# h! j1 ~% p8 I3 Y
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions. u4 M0 T, J! Q/ W* s9 H
The program includes the following elements:
6 U* d9 H$ H0 ` b+ y• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
- D3 h D; N: }! h: O• Standard Child Care First Aid
, S7 p ?5 N) ~: ]* l• WHMIS+ v8 ~# H9 p, c# ?6 ?" }
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care5 s% b8 J9 G8 |; {! E$ u
• Components to improve communication skills x# }3 j2 Q# p. N. h9 s9 d# A3 q
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
* o( K) r+ b0 K1 N! ~6 j3 E q• Practicum Placements
3 y, ]1 L" D+ Q1 O7 w- fEligibility Criteria
6 C# S, l8 I6 n8 J" c' U0 |; N• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
; l) v9 S4 C$ h( Sof Canada5 R M' [0 E7 u, I9 q
• have a Social Insurance Number
* t$ p+ n6 c3 l• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check+ Q, T# w1 _5 R' \7 }7 a
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
6 J' _$ ?0 B1 C+ z• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
2 Y, N* R5 T+ M8 n' Jthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:$ R3 }" O8 Z) p7 l
• be unemployed or underemployed.+ k6 C; i4 ^7 l# z/ _0 I
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
