This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and8 N, |% T3 r: [/ Y* S% X& ^3 L
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.9 u: f4 i# V$ [4 t' T
The program includes the following elements:/ H5 C+ [2 G& G( I
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
" B* d% l5 t4 T5 B• Standard Child Care First Aid4 X" m' O3 w9 c( m% s/ l" A
• WHMIS
, `# E1 L8 e7 Z5 n• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care% w0 Q/ Y) Z# B' i% s! Z+ K
• Components to improve communication skills5 ~( u* N! u; s1 M* T* u
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search, U A2 R+ h0 n( O
• Practicum Placements9 r' X; }, p. u$ {8 x9 j! h
Eligibility Criteria9 ?- D f/ V; I* `
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen9 B, k0 A) o5 `: q$ D3 E% `$ @
of Canada3 q' u- O, V1 W8 y
• have a Social Insurance Number
6 j: U- A* R( K6 W' _• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check& a$ p) x2 A5 p6 A! C
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
. Q' t5 Z. x- k. G; a$ A! w2 J# h4 t• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

) c/ @ h& {5 DParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet* Y7 C! u0 W) x# @1 h
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
