    * Read Common Questions about the elimination of premiums

2 k( a% Q# {- r2 F- L2 g3 e: Z: EPayment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

2 [  p6 @  ]- \, E3 o8 ~3 ~   1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.
* Z) G. @  m$ m2 w; n0 c   2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.
4 B3 p4 n8 F4 K: k% i! L   3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
) J  S3 D  j( \- ~! V2 I4 A   4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.
) _% M* j4 w7 R! M5 u   5. New Albertans must register for the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan within three months of their arrival.
