AMSOIL question

Recently notice there is a brand name for 100% synthetic engine oil called AMSOIL (0w-30), claiming that gurantee 40,000km or a year per oil change!

8 M+ p+ a2 ]2 K" }; h3 V2 p" J+ G2 zI am always use synthetic Mobil 1 (5w-20 for Honda, 5w-40 for MB), just wondering anyone uses this kind of super oil?

It says that it is 2x better in lumbricating (0.46 vs 1.01 mobile 1)

I have been using AMSOIL 5W30 for over 2 years w/ Napa oil filter, very good engine oil for havey-duty vehicle or stop-n-go daily driving. I usually change it every 7000km or 4 months per year. My 3.5L V6 engine runs really smooth and quiet with this staff. It can be ordered and picked up directly from their distribution center at 14543-121A Ave with lower price, the membership can be obtained easily via email.

I just want to use a better engine oil on my MB, swiching from Mobil 1 5w 40 to amsoil signature 0w30.

. `: o; t1 j0 l8 n. fMy interest is the super long oilchange interval. MB owner's manual says the oil change should be done every 15000km, though dealership recommend 7500km. Every time it takes too long time to book a service and I want to use really nice engine oil to double the oil change interval.

It seems you change oil quite often. I am trying to change oil once per year.

you might need to add in extra 3-4 liters of oil due to normal oil comsumption, at this point,  mybe you can hadel 40K with out oil change. And do it couple more times, i would like to offer you a engine replacement service in a fair price with 90 days warranty

不同于市场上的大部分其它牌子，Amsoil 机油是真正全合成， MOBIL 1 应该也是。CASTROL在欧洲卖的是真正全合成， 北美的不是。我的理解是只要使用高质量油滤，如WIX (NAPA GOLD) , AMSOIL等， AMSOIL或MOBIL 1 FULL SYNTHETIC完全可以8000～10000KM一换，除非你绝大多数时间都是短途停停走走或长时间高负载， 这取决于车的使用状况。当然， 机油换的越勤越好，这毫无疑问。当初刚从普通矿物油换成AMSOIL的时候，驾驶的感觉是完全不同的，发动机在油门响应，动力，噪音方面都改善很多。第一次申请AMSOIL MEMBERSHIP时还被免了半年的会员费。不明白为何车开好好的要加机油，如果引擎烧机油的话那最好用常规油， 而不是全合成。我是定期查油位，从没发现明显变化.

一同事开Porsche Boxster, 他的车PORSCHE建议换油周期是20000 MILES,很让我惊奇. 不管怎样, 如果是保修期内的车, 那最好按建议周期换. 过后就要看车的使用情况, 保守点总是好的.

Yes, Amsoil claims you have to use their oil filter to honor the 40,000km oil change interval /or a year.

I had this experience when I was in China, everytime after fresh oil changed, my Audi 100 (1992,4cly, made in Changchun) feels really smoother, quieter, and stronger. Somebody said it was due to psychological feel, but I do believe it was real.

6 Q) n3 h( c6 V7 vHowever, on a newer vehicle, I did not feel anything diffrent after each oil change of my own car and truck. I hope chaning the Amsoil can give me the new fresh feeling.

Ming J 's college has a Boxter, I do believe it is true because when I was in Germany for trainning, all BMW in europe has a 40,000 oil change interval! (Audi 35000, MB 40,000km)

I was so shock thinking chinese market is only 7500 km oil change interval (Beijing Market) for Bmw and MB.

Engineer says due to poor fuel quality and air intake, I think they are using normal oil instead of synthetic. At that time I had no idea about the car maitenance becuase i never dream about driving a premium car in China.

3 Z" Y. \; D) H+ R# b: B" Zhere in edmonton, dealership still threat people about the severe weather, double the oilchange interval. However, BMW gets free maitenance, then , it is 25000km per foil change, that says somthing then.

I belive in Edmonton, with sythentic oil (MB recommend Mobil 1 5w-40) , 10000 to 15000km should be ok. for nomal sedan driving condition. (not a pizza delivery driving condition)

lubrication performance vary with driving style, entironment, fuel quality engine performance and nature of engine design.

Do you think those factors in North America are totally same as Euro?  I dont think so.

That's why the Euro standard not working well  here.
