. U. @5 p3 s8 Z4 \    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region% C. m0 O. B# M
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
$ d: b2 M4 V. W) P- F  q    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators* y3 ?* A/ O' f- D# u! ?$ v' D* k
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations# g3 P+ A9 A, I* I* t- c
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director6 N  r$ t# ^2 b( k4 [
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
6 U1 L  `! B. W" F  z5 u    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
5 W8 i# g' }, l- Q; T/ g' F    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
3 K$ t% _' n% }3 \7 T) O( f    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
) i/ o- D+ B# Y$ K    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports) l8 X" c7 ~: c3 H
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
3 ^+ s$ s* a! J4 I    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly) Q- ]0 A5 L6 j2 S' d% V" h- [9 |# {
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
  F: c- H1 l4 K* Y% n& ^, S    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications, H8 n' K# R+ x4 n4 f1 o8 x

* ~& S4 k& }. Q4 F& \' s6 C    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline5 L! N1 H8 m, c5 D. n
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
( t( b5 |7 C7 W  X8 w& A    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
: o6 D2 A6 \! f    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
. b( b' @, ?" a+ P9 n; ^- `2 D    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community& ]! E% F3 o* s$ R1 |3 @+ h
    * Fundraising skills an asset6 S3 s5 I) I: C9 K3 _
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills# m6 p; G7 V6 [) h# l
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills% p( d2 n: y0 R1 c7 C
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills4 o0 A- K' r, U4 }& R
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
& h1 ]( M5 w/ _1 q! U    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
