9 Z' c/ t( ]1 D8 g+ h, q    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
' f9 U2 O5 x3 M4 Z    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group4 S7 q% l/ [, p/ Q7 r; I6 |
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
, S. `" R' ^- b$ v) [2 J7 {    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations3 C* `" t! ?2 \3 t* s+ o( x  Y
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director: v0 K7 V# g, y) f( i; n" g
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
  V2 K% O3 d+ v  J$ u6 i' z    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
, ^1 Z0 o* w% Y    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
$ m; ]. {. ]) F( @3 Q    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment, y7 i& z/ G# d) Y) x
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports: c" p' A0 \3 z' M1 Z
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs6 t) Z5 Q! t- V) ~  w% F
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
. h. V/ ]9 D% b9 U( F7 i1 u    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities1 A- o  a6 R; H$ I5 |' c
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications
6 p! v: G( Y: T9 v8 k5 u9 I& \8 M% Q  E, G6 i
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
& q' Q3 @" U$ c( |5 O# K8 `1 o; X    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth5 B4 }5 j: i  p
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies- v$ @2 Z0 ]0 C; @" f
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
& _2 Z& N- ?. c    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community5 ]3 }$ p0 D( b
    * Fundraising skills an asset* _" W4 G. o% }" Q& U" L3 n
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills- @. ]- o8 I6 A; g7 X: ~9 x& ?0 \0 j
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills; l+ Z! S! l4 P* k% k9 u) ^! u
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills8 [- @1 `$ r4 s$ S0 l
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
' D. Q, K# w6 a    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset8 _9 {& \$ i. N& c' l2 Q& ?
