; [, N  |2 ?1 |' Z' _' G    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region- V4 }3 G  h8 ~1 z8 X
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
+ z" c. o; w9 ]3 N$ o    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
# v! K, a# d1 {0 i% m9 [6 Y    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations5 S' n5 W& u1 C" i$ a! J0 H( W6 n
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director( F" J; _, H! a9 _2 \6 Q
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses- t2 z) j3 d3 v
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
! P$ I! d, M" S! o- K; H    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program2 F4 o) i/ d  `; V
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment" V/ @* c5 h/ x7 Y7 `
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports! n2 ?# _$ |7 h' @! V! K! l# l0 N
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
& o* q5 e% u: P7 m) Z- S    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly) V2 ~& r; g" R
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities: _" y+ F) x! m+ \% f4 d
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

- M8 s# Q, F. r% G    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline; U" U& ?) ~8 X: L
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
! l# V7 ?3 H! E3 ^* v    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
( m. b' p) D2 i1 u/ I2 n1 `    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
/ D5 }" h7 K) [% H- g    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
/ V0 K" n, ]" z% u    * Fundraising skills an asset
5 d3 i' k4 n& J3 h* O' C3 z, ?    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills3 v! k0 @9 ?2 S7 }% ]
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
