Position Title: Immigrant Services Worker

H# d0 M& x4 o7 w, uPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Integrated Service Program funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Albert Employment and Immigration, the Immigrant Service Worker will provide front line services to clients for their inquiry in a polite and professional manner.

• Respond to inquiries by telephone or in person with respect to matters relating to immigration, social services, employment insurance benefits, Alberta Health Care, Alberta Seniors Benefit, OAS, CPP, Citizenship and passports, etc.1 R$ M! _+ q: M9 a# y
• Book appointments and assist clients in completing various application forms
2 X7 ^9 v6 A* Q3 g5 z) a4 D• Recommend and register clients in workshops, seminars, classes, and activities8 n5 S6 T/ h& f# c+ i( f
• Helping Immigrants with Language Barriers to interpret and explain English letters, pamphlets, notices in Cantonese or Mandarin as requested by the client
; Z; J( E9 A( a* B• Refer newcomers/new immigrants to Settlement Counselor0 n2 t0 O6 r) ^4 x4 y3 Y. s( w1 J+ Q8 L
• Gather ISP files quarterly to ISP Coordinator6 @" H8 U; o2 U O6 V$ z+ {) ^" \
• Train and supervise volunteers at front counter or reception
% U, Q( f; b& @" D- i) U2 ^1 e• Refer interested volunteers to Volunteer Coordinator; c2 F( q% N# }2 k( C
• Record new client information and open new files7 e2 I& U$ P4 B: C
• Maintain and photocopy different forms for the Centre: Y* Z: w2 q! s& `5 A( Y
• Order and maintain sufficient government forms for Centre’s daily use* u! u7 E5 _5 Y. e! }- v x
• Explain membership benefit and register the client

- Ability to multi-task4 V4 n$ x/ |' K: @0 R; z9 v
- Works well under pressure' u/ N1 C9 N7 n3 [ {3 G3 |& ]5 ^
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team5 V6 Y$ s% W, k& G9 S
- Good oral and written English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and willing to learn one of the Chinese dialects if only proficient in one0 J0 v; p: ^ d' W p9 Q" S, Y# E' g
