Duties
% `- K* {4 L# u4 L: E1 a$ K* J+ X
5 z# t, b* \& \& b1 H: j2 o * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis1 k" m& o, A3 S8 G4 R. L
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography& s3 i" l+ ?" ~* P
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques; G1 O( W9 t L. D1 q+ W) j
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
0 h0 r( y: D$ H * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
8 g [3 h9 }: d) q- { * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals _$ |/ s) j( j |
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab) D$ q: z [! Q5 a+ g% M
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
4 G8 p- G1 ~( [% N* O- Y * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)1 M! i0 ]+ y- N% ^ T4 M, n$ h

( Y' ]5 p7 x) S) n * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred9 \: F; Q! L! b1 _3 r1 v
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)/ c6 r/ t: E# U2 C4 t; G
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
7 R' v; H0 J! a( H7 P' R4 ? * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures5 N. R: J' ~' w' D
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment( k: ~7 ^, J, Q4 X
