' L8 l% f9 m$ S * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis! ?, I: {& c# h) l
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
* M1 J5 q* @6 m1 b" f$ \ * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
- J' w: g8 g1 W( A9 x * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client8 \! z. O0 S; `" b% N
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry7 ]8 W! ~. U0 y$ V/ L. M( j. K
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals/ e8 s0 X7 S& Q8 G; Z: A
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
5 Y1 N% l& C( ] * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices0 ]7 v9 [5 A$ m, s4 ^0 O
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)6 e& [) i% d% X$ w& |

Qualifications
u. D% J, ~8 B7 [( B4 y/ B; O2 n: e+ u4 |$ ~3 _7 ~
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
* L' o3 ?8 b) _' b; q * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
" _. {; U$ ~8 q4 t# O( V * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
% x/ \& _" C: F. k9 A% I- y- A * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures( |+ d/ j% _! I( t
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
