Duties1 ~; q9 ?) w& f( Q
+ K/ @' A) N# [- m * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
" ?9 ~+ E& G4 X- r8 w3 d * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
( A ?1 g/ L% ^, P% _+ x * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
9 h3 M9 i) _. D! q% _. K * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
1 l' o3 S! a4 c, W * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
5 g$ \" F! R4 d9 o * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
0 T0 S! E( ?) ~ * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
. ]: _. @' W: Y, z/ p * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
1 o% p5 r! j! _& T' `" R% Y! _ * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred2 p. i/ `% L0 i7 R3 v' C8 R
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
: ?3 e' s& s9 C5 C M( J( Y! g9 ] * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel3 \' G- `! g+ }4 x. b
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures8 v, a$ e# g3 I
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment% L- ?+ j% g& j. B% b# o
