Duties% Z3 n5 G& G3 c
$ t( Y( O: z% Y6 [% e * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis) `# X$ D `6 I" w0 m8 I9 M2 o
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
0 k! K$ o' `7 g; V N$ A7 p7 K) k# R( p * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
* P/ @" _# X& D n * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client0 w6 ?) {$ ?+ f9 D$ k. Q
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
2 E. \5 [* C7 Q0 _( z' ~ * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
$ I4 y, \$ A+ X" E * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)) i* i7 P! A, }! K6 k o2 ~" O

Qualifications
0 u% m7 R4 u* U% b
) [2 R! V$ c; b' Y7 R5 d * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
% k* ~; @, A8 \* H* S, ^ * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab), X! Y5 w1 x, Y& h" e( u8 o
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel! G% |4 @# x: O
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
