* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
2 h0 t0 J6 R" i2 J6 u! ] * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography! J& ^7 I2 n' u ^7 R
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques+ N2 k }. \8 }
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
4 r' K7 |8 j$ o. Z * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
+ G; `2 U7 \" u- K. C' U7 o * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals' E' l: P$ E# B
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab( ]0 M* u& M0 P% O$ h) y ]
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
8 I. M. z8 O4 p; d * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
( I, ^6 d# l" O; G c4 t# J6 x! g( H
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred4 K1 y# }5 S5 v4 q& M1 f
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)( d( C0 V* O" V+ R# \6 S) _. B
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel, u6 m( Z) ` m1 Q
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures/ Y6 q% Y$ A7 `! a; i6 g6 g
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment0 o+ w7 k; F+ u, ]
