Responsibilities include:! H; v$ D6 W$ }

1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
3 o: ], a% l9 s3 A6 k# j0 [# ?• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department: S) K( B- w# c, x) C! R- Y
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
# {! v/ x* U9 y8 F• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored7 t# c1 h$ B. C2 n$ w
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals5 |+ h* Q1 u3 W
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

. p" k \% O2 _/ a( ?; _2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
- F( e/ L) p( H) ?( w• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.2 Z: i" u7 o, |" |9 h, G: V

3. Tracking System
' W7 I. G! b p6 w• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s

! z/ S/ m3 Q0 C/ j/ NCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. / S5 U( D6 D( R- U7 n- v6 Y
& y7 a4 L, B' B! dThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.( G! J4 V0 p8 c+ Z5 t
