! Q5 a& W, r& l4 {3 H9 t1 M1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
[, A$ m! U- _1 E6 B9 W• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department! X9 [5 I7 h; |) L0 d! f# t
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals# T2 M& I% G; J+ d
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored7 q$ L/ x6 D# Q4 o+ M6 U! R
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals4 U* l* f* g& s. z+ A+ y
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.2 O. v- s( t1 m1 X5 D
! s# m. a) T) y( a( o1 [2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)8 ?& V# y/ Q# t4 Q
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.( q# J& Y! g: Z1 y
& q% F# ?; ^' l8 e: A
3. Tracking System
$ e8 f' A% C8 R• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s 1 l8 z* X# L7 J3 n9 l" b* T
W7 k! l0 i& q6 V& y! CCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. ( M7 m* V0 Y3 a0 H3 S
* f! |( z+ H$ dThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.; q1 x2 i- M% E, y
