1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)# O4 l5 z" E+ N9 a% a
• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department; `, a, k/ r" [
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals9 f& D4 V1 j4 i
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
/ O7 S! K" D, N# z* A: D; A* ^9 `• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals
( j4 w4 _7 n3 B/ u• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

- p" {6 ^. H. N# ?. A% V- e, L2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)' v8 W% A2 z3 e+ k/ T
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

3. Tracking System# }. E: j4 o& o+ ^/ {5 h! V+ A9 b
• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s $ p0 z& u% _! z
. _/ A; w7 o" r: n1 F$ C) _2 E' J) [" O$ hCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

This is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
