Idioms----I learned some idioms and made some sentence. Who can guess the meanin

He quit his job as soon as he  got an interview with a publishing company.. He really jumped the gun.8 Z) o" `0 Y: b+ t0 U
His wife saw he having lunch with a female client in a restaurant, she jumped the gun and accused him of having an affair.
9 f1 ^$ [. W, n; ]! ]Hold your horses, otherwise you may make a mistake.
: Z7 a; |& H1 J* H) gYou won’t get burned by choosing our product.
. j# P6 U& k% C* S' @# X3 OHe wants to have his cake and eat it, but there is no doubt that he won’t be successful without hard working.
% v' j: b& A$ O( |0 D: TThey were supposed to win, but Jim blew it. Eventually they took second place in the game..! u% w! K2 ^: z( k( m. s; F& Q
My goodness! We have to be back to square one because we get the wrong direction.$ v, F' x# {9 o( z7 y
The method you used in your work is off base, I hope you have your job redone.

About one year ago I met a girl in university, I slept with her after our first date, we really jumped the gun and had a good time as well. However, when I proposed to her, she said, "Hold your horses", it turned out she was married! Obviously, I would get burned if her husband knew about our affair, so I told her explicitly, "You can't be married and single, you can't have your cake and eat it, too!",  I was very upset, coz I was expecting a serious relationship, but she blew it! She had a family, she even had a son, she just cheated on me, that is way off base! After I broke up with her, I have to be back to square one and look for a new relationship.

mostly good, but I don't think the "get burned" and "blew it" is used properly here.
