As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:

; N& ?- c/ o, Q4 s·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.

+ N% j! Y: i" @1 T" {·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.

·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.# W3 U4 E" r: p

* G' s' ^7 Y  X+ c·         Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.

·         Administration of the financial accounting module of the financial information system.

) b0 B1 B* O/ I& @& E, N·         Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

·         University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.
0 _5 b% L1 d1 V% d. E/ F; @0 Q& t# g4 t8 [$ l, K1 T" o0 l
·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.
" Y; G6 M* Y' c9 C
# k6 V; P! \: t9 ~' t8 W·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.
; |8 ~& ^( \" [+ p% [) |
) I0 t5 Z6 S: S- T·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

·         A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.# G4 R  G8 g1 T7 ]( P

·         An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.$ ?9 d8 A3 j3 B% H8 J: V

SALARY RANGE:

91M, Salary Grade: 106, $64,105.20 - $91,580.23 (Annually).
