Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
Y) E3 e- s( P9 C- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
; w6 I0 K D2 D' O; o, ?- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
9 k$ e. r( p% M3 v& g$ B- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies1 }9 Z7 E. w& j
- coordinate good will activities
+ p9 `" R5 H% J0 ~( p# C2 p; _- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members! b* Y- L6 Z" p; S& Q
- submit information for community news ( r' ?4 @9 X8 m* O z* p2 t8 X" g* g
- prepare and send AGM information to members
2 _5 Z- y. G7 p8 R- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.* H3 Q& d9 s& g+ D" q/ Z1 r
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities E) L# S: n" b) R, _6 \
- update ASSIST website
, S2 Z; @) |- R$ B- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
# J3 q) C! T0 ^) D. F F3 I0 s- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP6 E0 h- U. ]; ]# w
- explore new ideas for ISP & S8 x+ ~/ {: D y
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education

- experience in community work and immigrant services
& j. H4 S2 m% S. t, Y- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars y$ v6 X6 H: l! }
- leadership skills
