Position title: Community Development Worker

m4 p" @1 _5 g# ], ^9 kPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services! o; ~: @1 w/ b1 e) s# X
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
- M8 R- C2 v. _# I! S4 i. w- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies$ c: U- F* D9 F/ h9 e) J
- coordinate good will activities% Q# ?& V# f7 `- p0 P% S5 a7 u+ v
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members3 Y3 a; [7 e3 g0 z
- submit information for community news - c0 l9 v! n6 c' M5 Q+ q. p
- prepare and send AGM information to members8 x& r5 `$ Y7 O% ?
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.( S, n2 F; Z, c9 r+ |5 A% Y
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services! W" H6 |8 p. d m4 z
- assist in writing proposal for ISP7 X7 [9 l i+ ~5 b8 n8 `
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP( E6 x; \- o3 n2 ~" @1 y# y
- explore new ideas for ISP

Qualifications
" W% E! ^- |# Z& C$ m2 K% K- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education - `) d' i* B9 k
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills, `" D* D$ |% `/ ?. x
- experience in community work and immigrant services
4 J( S. ^! N4 ]; p, O1 ~ O# X7 P2 {- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
' T4 Q% H% t5 s- leadership skills+ p* |* \8 W7 x: K/ u6 s% F
