Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. + x. o5 G$ b0 ^( P; M0 p( h

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
+ b' Z5 l, P H/ L- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services. _, s6 N4 Q' d. a+ D
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services/ a. A6 M$ @# k% w
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
h. w1 c$ w' I- coordinate good will activities
8 S" F; k3 H; b* I( U+ c- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members5 i+ L" {: r2 [. i E7 K& h
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website% S7 i0 x7 {* N' h# G- d, O# }; s
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
" q8 P: H R1 b7 T2 ~- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education $ r# ?' m, T! n$ ^# i
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
$ }( M* [7 [9 J" }- experience in community work and immigrant services
! Y* X* Z& F+ o: ^- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
