Position title: Community Development Worker

7 f3 v& \1 H6 P2 J5 j; E+ PPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services. j: Z* Q0 m3 }
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services, y/ t# f2 f( [* ]
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members1 R: V9 K, _4 [" i- ?$ p5 z

- prepare and send AGM information to members

- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities, K1 G8 M! q5 \3 i, y$ H7 p9 U& U6 C9 m
- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services* r( o' W% a5 c- x! T( r& y
- assist in writing proposal for ISP2 C) H" I4 }4 X9 w2 m8 b: w
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

" [ B% K' H K- a4 ~- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education

- experience in community work and immigrant services! d3 V8 Y1 q2 m& I6 ]
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
