Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. ; z, b+ W+ b0 I, f' \) r

; }4 q0 f2 l5 G/ g% s, ?- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
( U3 X( [! Q5 a$ L! ]3 _- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
, N4 ]8 E U, R% T# U- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
# ~) e' \' }& P- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
# Z, r, H) p2 l: R- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.% C5 a6 C/ W c" Z1 Q2 b
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
: X! Y+ _. x" x# ]& j- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
5 z; k/ H1 d5 V+ N, p- assist in writing proposal for ISP
3 Y' g' T3 C9 Y9 B- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

8 m6 k0 V( e- ~: z7 R2 d- hold regular meetings with ISP team
?9 ]. R1 X9 u# D& i/ o- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications
9 \' g; J* u2 w" ~4 R6 a- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education : f, t6 k" g2 K- j) Q
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills: o! g4 u) F9 x
- experience in community work and immigrant services+ H0 I: C4 b% g
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars6 ?% T# h7 v# J+ ]3 {# o
- leadership skills8 _+ k. e: I! G
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills7 H4 V w& P( i! @+ G& n( t
- ) L# ?, A2 s! x0 x4 b" g
