- P" W ]- B3 Y: ?After I came to Edmonton, I celebrated Canada Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Remembrance Day. All of them are interesting for me, but the most interesting holiday is Halloween.9 j2 F; S3 n( j* X
My teacher told me I must prepared candies, and many children would come to my home and ask for them. So, I bought many candies form Zellers and Safeway. When I came home with the candies, my wife told me that there were not enough, so I went to Safeway again and bought more candies.! a# s5 C. @4 G3 F( q3 ?) S4 o
My child was shy and didn’t speak mach English, so I taught her how to shout “Trick or Treat”. She was perfect at shouting “Trick or Treat” after two days of training. $ I7 l- t8 f8 C, j
October 31st was Halloween. I got up very early that day. My wife cooked chicken which I was going to bring to class for a potluck. My child was very happy because she had already waited for this day for a long time.
* S+ n! _8 b' ^0 h6 mIn the afternoon, we had a potluck in the class. Yuong Sook, a Korean girl, made some sushi which looked very beautiful. Chun Yuan, a Chinese girl, cooked some bouilli which tasted very delicious. Of course my wife cooked the best food because they were clear off.
5 G; @" R( Y q# K" b S L: XAfter lunch, we had a party in the student center. Many students put make up on their faces and wore some strange clothing. They were singing and dancing there. What a happy day! i$ h- K8 R0 Z2 m6 P
When we arrived home, the sky became dark. My child said, “Dad, may I go out and ask for candies?”/ V$ }, n1 w2 y& J: P, W+ g/ Y5 m
“Yes. Why not?” I said.# v6 ~# I' i8 e# D
My child went out with a bag. My wife and I stayed at home to wait for the children. To my surprise, only three children came to my home, and I was left with many candies.
) j8 F4 k4 L; V* q$ e" ^One hour later, my child came back with a full bag. “Dad,” She said, “My bag is full. I have many candies now. What an interesting day!”
