financial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as

2. Marketing and Promotion

9 C% I% v+ K& f, o, d Xa. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that - n3 s+ h( x; j/ p7 u
focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, 9 M+ J- m# ^2 k- h; a
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
3 T3 l4 g$ T. l) K; ~This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
& Y5 b1 n% }9 x6 l· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
8 R' u4 i: t8 c: z1 ]3 bTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
; ~! U! m) m2 f' q0 C" j$ Ztake advantage of other internal and external advertising , E# \5 t8 G" w( F, z
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional : Z8 p$ T8 F' `9 g8 f, z: M
literature on an ongoing basis.

: H: I2 i7 P! \* H u7 j· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the

3 ^$ L0 m4 D, U- d8 u9 W! H8 x3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities( u8 f! d$ a/ Y5 P/ d6 B/ M
/ Z, U$ [$ c, j Z" r+ N3 \a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
# u( u4 ^; T% o7 S) i# O4 [5 Eeffectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
) i8 W. K$ G: v# @venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
7 m3 I5 b9 V' X/ W: g- X6 qcontribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
+ ^& Y3 |$ ?. w+ q0 ^$ \the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited - [3 Y+ J$ f8 b4 |
to, the following:+ [" q/ u* p# H9 n: m# {. Q, `
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues / C$ g- N$ b8 N( c/ `+ A- }
and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, G" n: |3 D1 V
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.
0 j6 p t! }+ o2 d0 h To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at ( I; R! v. Y; S$ M' ?2 E
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such
" O( Y- g7 e$ p- Q" x4 Q; Sschedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and 0 _% {, S$ f6 P5 o' a- t
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it 0 B& D+ _8 P% s& y1 H
is in operation or needs to be in operation.7 K' ~& T+ h4 B8 F( @1 }* y+ ~
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure ! Q& X- v, {- g& x3 p L* L4 E' B
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to
- e2 ~' q6 p7 H) @) gfacilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all 1 u% m" {& x+ U: ~7 o
renters needs are met.
% K7 c9 ?/ P- \* r· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills , Q0 G& j. W) U6 P7 Z1 k
and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of - G3 Y' ^' P6 W9 a# x
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
, ` m+ {3 J. w+ `: i1 [effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
6 u) j# }% p- [3 a! ]appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing * G5 S( z) y1 K6 Q
excellent customer service to all renters.
7 O& z u- z% i* x/ A· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff J+ E2 d4 k: X2 k
scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance
( t0 {- ~ v! T* I& m# j4 N' o- Tand direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning . H, W7 d: f0 i+ p; J/ H6 d
the staff of the venues.4 m( o9 ~0 O ?6 j( R0 n. z2 N8 b
· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure

· Working with the Manager of Programming and Venues to ensure

appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contribute in a

includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:

operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
- C2 _/ m$ T$ z* ?Programming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets 8 {# G* G2 I) G8 \9 q
Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &
( e4 K3 k2 {: @! _Administration prior to their submission for final approval.
[& d9 p/ \& s, p4 J· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively + Q, N7 ], x+ C6 e. U$ z: e! w9 Y
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects 8 z% X% K, { @( O8 e
the best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.0 T8 Y0 }* Q/ x! [$ L
· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and
, ~9 p3 g' M6 c; @* N! `administrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the ' h: p @- v+ r: v* t
compilation of monthly and annual financial statements, and such + s4 E+ u/ J1 u" ^) Y' `

· To discuss those financial statements and other reports, together / l0 }4 x4 C; p3 p, h# Z
with all financial and administrative procedures, with the SU´s ! g# [ ~+ y. i9 L# \

Administration with a view to determining and implementing action
. Z8 w/ e- T/ daimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of
9 e( S* O% y* A! s* G* R% othe Horowitz Theatre.
) C+ ?+ | ]# F: l; a· To ensure the existence of adequate, effective and accurate job
% t/ n2 U! b4 Y0 d5 i, G" ncosting systems to be used in connection with the determination and 5 c' J# M/ x5 A8 b8 N8 y- c
setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for " t% P$ ?/ Q$ b; \8 ~+ r
events held in the Horowitz Theatre.
" `. b) c, h: p5 J· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with ! l8 R) p8 \; _
the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial
; ^1 a, [ s+ j, n rand administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects 6 N1 s3 B1 k* e. N5 p& k3 e9 T6 z$ I
the requirements of the SU´s Manager of Programming and Venues and

5. Overall Roles and Responsibilities

% H$ z4 k3 W1 Q, B' y/ a' z· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as
* i' u7 |' U9 h4 hmay be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this
/ ~: A! {, i( g7 w! _1 p& Bis to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes
3 [4 M2 B! y! Y, min the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation, / R" b& f) m) ]: f. k, `; p u n
pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing,
9 T( y& e0 O/ I2 ?$ y$ `6 l1 M3 b: dtogether with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary 4 c; l( E/ d: M; \
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and
4 b8 H3 Y+ c$ r- Ufunctionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.) B- C- G& m0 ?: U* I, i
· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures o- A N% T, Z5 p( q/ H+ l
as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-
& E; R$ b: I- W8 }1 aeffective operation of the venues.+ l5 }& n# T4 f& L
· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to ( ^' k9 I/ f8 t2 g
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.' P. x4 d1 v0 H; Y, ?
· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and
y0 n) Y9 b; l+ k& W0 |that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.

· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and 2 b) a4 p' k5 e
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the / }0 M1 g- q8 E3 e' c8 e# t+ D! }! S
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.& t. p- Q$ Z$ t' D9 _
· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
! {$ L7 W1 I9 R; U) v6 @! ]+ ^rental with consultation with the Technical Director.) e% i( ?7 u% a0 }: T
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the 5 Y/ R5 c) A6 R6 {+ _
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately G6 `1 O, ?! r# P
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in 1 M |# i' G1 Y* h" a/ [
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.! Z `5 ~: A3 k3 _1 ?
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, * k5 R0 R% W! e% C% ? x- h7 S S8 p
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that 2 @& z% S% E4 X- j/ o6 C5 d) G
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision
5 C( P7 ^: }! {- w" b' F1 L0 X2 o" pmade for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of
. n8 `! s( U7 {& \9 TProgramming and Venues.
+ s8 V. Y2 Y: u$ h- g· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of $ d$ b" B9 e, I6 D, V0 B
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of ) l% l$ g8 R4 V" c
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as
+ p3 @2 \$ n4 b$ r j: K' bmay provide such challenges and/or problems., A# X9 j) t: F0 X# {9 |7 W9 a
· To attend such meetings as may be required to support the smooth - H6 |/ m/ p! T) B& | c2 p
operation of the venues or the Students´ Union as a whole.* w% T( G, T8 a7 q
· To perform other job-related duties as may be required by the

1) Minimum two years related post secondary education, or
