extensive, and are targeted at the all round smooth operation and
5 {7 V+ Q5 n" [0 ifinancial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as 2 N' y6 \, c5 n3 f. H4 ?
the logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional + A$ A7 W7 H. d
venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that & L H4 ]* e8 K
breadth and complexity, it is not possible to fully define or

positive way to the smooth operation and success of the individual

students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis. 6 b9 T' l; j) ~
This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
8 f* B) v' q" q! a; a7 b· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz . L; {5 ~( q" y6 c; H$ W
Theatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
. `; Y/ ~# n3 @# @2 t: Ntake advantage of other internal and external advertising - ^2 l6 K' U. H9 U6 K6 V' r6 I
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional
0 k9 z( M5 C0 Q& z( Cliterature on an ongoing basis.
7 v! f7 |7 @# O4 Y· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.
6 E% M' q; R( }: K$ d· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the 5 R9 O1 ~: M) \4 F) ^
use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.- V2 V, T8 A/ ` W0 @7 X0 K1 x6 r
· To develop new external clients for the venues.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities
% @8 y4 x. e: q% l2 A( l) _9 p. n
a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
# i4 P# n* z& Q E; s3 Feffectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
2 @9 U7 ~) @4 D# r/ P' T+ @venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
: T; d1 \+ E( k. L% gcontribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of C) T6 T: J: Q
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited
9 D) d/ k( N, v( I6 Kto, the following:
* ~( w# c2 z$ c· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
$ s3 ]+ L: v0 m$ k, u1 V+ rand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining,
& u8 l& ?/ F* X3 {evaluating and terminating, as necessary.4 S6 Y5 j4 H7 }3 R( l. R5 N* J2 n
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at ! L2 D" n% ]) F5 |3 x0 f
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such 2 s& R$ F0 h* u9 x
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
8 T- h% ?- O* O8 Z$ ucost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it : H- D3 {) |9 _9 a$ s8 \& e
is in operation or needs to be in operation.
7 k3 r2 i! e/ \* r5 u- {5 a· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure
6 j( v. q. U" L, Ethat an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to # J0 m8 _7 Q5 }8 g% e4 J
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all * v3 a) t& l& v( m$ x9 v5 X
renters needs are met.
! n; v" B' v5 j/ _· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
$ M# X% T6 f w6 f3 gand attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of
0 f& J- H" |3 P7 c; c, d7 Zthe roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and ( X1 `- ~* E; v) [. ~' m" @4 a
effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and 9 B {% I0 G7 v1 U* n5 g
appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual 6 {3 O- M2 T* z& k6 k, X( d1 k
is kep up-to-date at all times.9 i) L( U7 d" C+ N/ B" f
· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing n4 G" s% ^- e, x4 I. G3 c
excellent customer service to all renters.! K$ O! w) p6 a& W1 w: V) [: M' O2 y
· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff 3 c6 J( J+ x- \6 o% l
scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance : n& W% d# K) W A3 k5 J$ G/ m
and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning

a. To ensure, at all times, that the Financial and Administrative

includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:

operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of

Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &
' w7 N& N/ G( s* q( v0 ], WAdministration prior to their submission for final approval.6 d% o8 A, ^& l4 a7 U
· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively 5 P G0 S2 K& ?9 s9 M( K
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects
) t3 A) N& p, l+ Q A- r3 `the best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.# ?; k% |- ?) f0 a( A; g
· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and
4 p) q: o" D h* hadministrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the

· To discuss those financial statements and other reports, together

aimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of + T3 p+ `! e N$ X, {% O

· To ensure the existence of adequate, effective and accurate job 0 b! @2 i4 _* R& v
costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and
9 X; e5 M h9 P! ^" Y/ a7 Z1 p- Fsetting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for
; s+ y5 X! N' x+ ]! O& Pevents held in the Horowitz Theatre.

the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial # @$ S0 z' |$ m6 H

contributes positively to the smooth operation and success of the

0 M) o6 g* a4 i& xrenting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and 3 ~, H* L+ E* }8 w
needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the * J# |7 X( `- C% r c0 t2 J
venues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:- {/ I6 N# ?% H

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as
( Q' O/ \/ F2 t }8 _+ N3 H- m5 Amay be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this , ]2 a5 r! {0 x. C$ S
is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes 4 R+ B* C3 b0 G
in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation, ) k, Y" R" h% ?7 Y
pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing,
( I6 X- t, Y3 O( |& k2 h- Q" Etogether with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary $ m. X1 C/ j6 U' k: p: k
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and
3 a) T0 `% c, q( ]functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.
( `1 X& O$ u$ O9 D/ @· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures + Q6 `& D. d# Y1 `6 K7 t7 O5 N* ^! I
as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-
: c4 ]# v. k- n( f; b, c1 ^2 m; W& _effective operation of the venues.
1 Y( i( O1 |+ D; B: Q· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to & T# E. M: Y0 C, }! {# i- X0 R7 x% k
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
' e- X3 { S7 l& |& m· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and . a( s5 u' K% @' c+ P9 \
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.9 S: L& ?# i' f! r- Q: @
· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their 6 F0 G# j) `& q t4 E L# Z1 k
particular event in the venues.
9 W# K: ~; x0 r! n· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and - P. [- i+ c6 O* X. N
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the 1 {9 a8 d {+ H9 J/ T
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
/ b* `8 v7 G1 } [ f· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular 6 \ B5 C# c ~& ?' L: A' q, v
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.
+ o: a) d! E9 z2 `· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
+ \! y) l* z" v3 T3 u( p- \SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately
) E5 S3 } N% Lanswered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in
3 q; {8 _$ j4 i: v p/ Ifollow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.0 b, w2 [7 L9 B$ x) z0 z; V
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, ' W; p4 N& b* H) J0 m
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
1 A1 l/ R; q, L: \the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision + S" j/ d# H0 T' M
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of

· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of 8 F; [2 d6 W% x
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of
5 t J5 u- P1 v7 kmarketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as
$ P9 n" W2 W f. j" w" D/ x- umay provide such challenges and/or problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
