2. Marketing and Promotion

focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, 0 g/ {% t o( o/ K7 [4 H
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis. ' T J) J% P( R; Z, J
This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:# Y' |3 |1 B1 r5 U% \# o
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
2 m- s( w$ n- aTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
5 S0 L; e% [$ m2 {: H. ntake advantage of other internal and external advertising % e$ m8 T. K0 f3 {3 Z8 t2 o
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional : W/ r* [! l" q% ^9 M; v) d: {

· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the

a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost- 0 s" z% l- L+ {2 i/ e' c- o
effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the ( j% [5 r% e9 ^7 z% R2 C
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and % s! h s8 H. D, @1 x' ]
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
T9 Q# q/ r$ c5 }2 m+ B; ithe renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited

· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
8 V7 ]+ I2 z/ ~$ z3 f* Q5 @and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, 6 u. c/ X* c( t! ]
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.
0 G$ a, ?4 t; M5 S4 R% L To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at * r- }0 \" l% n
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such - V0 h+ ~- w3 Q) K& }! j7 S
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
, K4 i' e* s! n3 t/ F! Ycost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it - u# v- v8 _ s3 P' X
is in operation or needs to be in operation.
/ [. B# T% [) j, a· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure
: T- @9 R! n" P% H* J: Qthat an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to , z0 F2 R- n2 m( B# E, B
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all ) O# d @- Q3 G: R/ U1 }
renters needs are met.; u, n2 N* e0 [# ~" e% W
· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills / k( W& |1 ~9 X( R/ W2 }% [
and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of 1 v; C" j# ^# G9 }1 j* [+ u1 b
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
q( v) B4 n& E; K/ l2 N5 @effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
3 L; c; J$ [7 v& N5 aappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance

the staff of the venues.

that additional requests such as licensed receptions are arranged.

4. Overall Financial Performance

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the

positive way to the smooth operation and success of the venues. This * l5 M9 M, {9 D( U+ [* g b
includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:
% [; S, y( | w5 l To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate 2 b- T' ?3 O. o. z8 Q
operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of ; L' K" f+ q9 u3 c# q, |3 q/ o
Programming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets
& Q( v& O% p9 D* ^- {Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &
: I8 C/ p( a" c/ s+ C7 TAdministration prior to their submission for final approval.
6 v# B5 _: c! m; U, G' t· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively
$ ~- X' E/ a1 j* u1 H" greflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and

· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with

manner to the Accounting Department.

and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects

needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the
* K- [5 l& m4 i' ^) L" N# fvenues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as

is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes
; t" ]7 U9 R1 v3 f! t' ^in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,

together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary

functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.

· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to 2 b- `' h! E% @* T/ M
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.

· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their

· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular

· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the 9 _. e5 |' u% }8 T( X$ e0 o& q
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately # y. E* L) j) M" b1 a# N" b: @. g1 }
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in u3 w* B7 y* G3 F1 [' J0 b
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner." K O& O) A. G% c. s: Z2 I, a
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately,
) U: {8 j+ E ^* Seffectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that

made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of

significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of
