I really don't know and never thought it can be directly translated but I suddenly thought of some words that I never used, when I was driving on my long commute this morning:

I believe that languages are alive, for words like "cheesy", this slang dic can give you a much better idea of its real meaning than traditional ones.

Thanks. I will check it later on.

Slang depends on area, and culture too. Some slangs works in some area but may never work in other areas, meaning if you use it, nobody understand. So I still doubt Cheesy can really mean Rou Ma formaly.

对，我的总结是：cheesy的含义有比肉麻更广，但是肉麻的最接近英文是cheesy

这个cliched,我就遵循下面竹帘这个french frog的说法了。

文化不同语言的应用不同，这个原理是对的，比如哥儿们，美国人叫buddy,英国人叫mate, 但是放在这个话题里有点不搭嘎，因为我们讨论的是这个俚语的普遍应用形势

However, when it is used to describe food, it usually means "of a lot of cheese"; when describing an emotional/sentimental scenario, it could mean "fake", "of low class",  caused by affectation, which may very much make one to feel "rou ma" , "goose bumps" is just one of its infamous side effects.

我从这个帖子学习后，又有这么个想法：肉麻也是有很多种情况引发的，如果是爱人间的肉麻，是mushy, 如果是表演过度，作假的肉麻，是cheesy 等等。这么理解对吗？
