" Q; t, |% \# ?0 Z( j7 ~Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.& ^1 k& c" Q1 H K& r
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

- n! J" w, @ I7 V• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
, f: q# n2 Z" `" m; @" M• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
) f( \) s& a3 j- T" w* @7 sto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger ; p( ]- [9 Q: R3 f: h

2 B: C8 \, N! G' N1 `% p1 ~- \ n% E• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.)., L3 J# ~4 Z: q" ^- T
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
5 o3 s% G: z. \6 F• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.# o! g; m3 p+ \9 w7 Y& r% \
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
) E! p7 m$ b! rshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. ; [1 X) g% A! c
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
& D+ K. t2 B+ O" N' v! hvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly+ N6 o) K2 s- h; K- i: a
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
