the Students' Union and oversees all electoral logistics as per Bylaw  
# Y) W) s9 g3 w& d) p2 l% d7 T2000.  The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students'  
' d; l: P# J3 QCouncil in the manner set out in the Council Administration Committee  
8 c, N8 \. E1 {3 VStanding Orders by April 15 and serve from May 1 to April 30 of the  
' U0 b5 D# e8 a6 e2 T' O, Oyear following their appointment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:8 k2 T, m8 X' p

- y" f0 A9 D! P; m9 e7 h1) To run the elections as per Bylaws 2000# }& a* L6 R5 k0 U5 A  a! E

6 v6 Z3 T) G+ J. k# Q2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.

% e( t" `4 G4 P( r# w: i3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.$ d5 O$ I: x5 V6 H; `0 u) P+ F
& Y0 @1 O1 t2 M1 |# Y4 H( B
4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing  5 N6 ]  \0 y, o8 H6 u
adequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations  . H: o$ g- X2 Q0 [4 n& `' R
across campus, and advertising the poll locations.
/ @2 M4 K% c4 N  A0 [) M" P# v  b* x* m
5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/
1 w5 m: C7 y7 o" y8 V& |! M6 zreferenda.
. b( X* u2 u: K, A' n4 q+ H& I
  T5 j! q1 C& M- N* K" Y6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate  
% T4 ~* Z& p. Y, u7 Nparties.

7) To facilitate classroom speaking arrangements during an election/ 8 t: z. h: a4 U9 L
referendum.. Y& E+ U4 m- _" N( y+ _

To enforce budgetary regulations as stipulated in the Elections  9 e% w2 K' `/ ~( Y( p
Bylaw 2000.

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a  
% r& Y6 A! Q" R; l6 d. \; ]: Iminimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday,  
, g! K; @& C) l$ Efrom the first working day after nominations close until the last day  . G8 c1 k/ W) x
of voting.  These hours are to be posted in advance.: Z5 S* Q5 t# E) d

+ t" @  e  V* J! |- h11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during  
: f: }% H2 \% p+ _* M7 L% ?the course of an election/referendum." W* [6 A6 {* T* x9 V  r

+ |9 L8 S( P6 o& r& Q, j! u" w12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting  ' }! M4 O% I0 z4 F
process is in place.

13) To submit to Students' Council, prior to April 30, a final report  " b6 O8 k& h4 R5 f, \

9 Y+ l1 J2 |0 i( o2 q' Q8 C14) To organize a minimum of one (1) forum to be held during the week  
, g; \/ \$ k! l$ jof campaigning.7 ~  p  C# [# k  A

+ e( r. _1 {5 ~, ^" _" K5 p15) Perform other job related duties as required by the Council  
. S5 h7 m" L4 o& dAdministration Committee.

- w& z/ O* y  U4 f$ K1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course  + e; ^+ K/ u8 B+ C9 p# Z
for each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students'  
7 z" ~& `: \0 G0 g3 m( F2 M6 jUnion member.
5 {. q3 h$ ~* a! h* _3 i1 o# F8 f5 E. W! E$ n
2) Must have some experience in student elections.* U2 U% V5 h! d7 D! b8 \/ {/ P

* u* A& j: D1 l; A9 m/ [3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or  $ ]7 J# _0 I$ e1 i7 U- S
any of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position  
. L& j; H0 i; Y5 y4 I% awith the Students' Union.  r# P3 I5 {) C

4) Willingness and ability to work varying hours.! ^5 ?  o9 K9 V& @  J4 [  O$ H

5) Excellent project management skills are required.
