: ^0 z- Z2 A+ t/ ]7 _society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
+ e/ _8 s3 t' d' zvolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more

) p; b, ?, K, O! fPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
/ w4 V% s" U2 e  m0 m" w# }and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
; s% w2 S+ o% y# f* Eworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

3 c$ {$ P1 ~2 |$ ~# ?9 F: |* p6 rPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
# H/ j: p: N0 \% E8 X0 _* carrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
0 j# d! V' P7 f2 X  Emedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
: t" [( o( b+ W: E" z# H1 N3 Ufor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
; L# f& O/ T+ }4 ~  P1 y& y1 ~. p# oto implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
5 V$ ^; e6 l" N1 L' x1 p; }" [as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
+ e# V( C) M% f5 Wthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
1 ^- @0 ?* Y' p: b* wthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
% N0 ]6 T6 ?0 f# E) D: \5 @2 V6 jthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
* h6 i9 C" l4 f3 Q" k1 H$ C% aincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
5 t) s9 x/ R. u% x+ A7 jpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
! \# m5 s  Z3 z0 y4 F. @6 uorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
9 M8 Q+ h2 Q$ i; y; h$ dmanaging projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
: ?' K  \; U: ?& `0 C2 I$ Iprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
