volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth

sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
8 }4 Q) q& n' E) Oand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
9 Y- d' M2 t+ Y* Gnon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
% \! h* ^' r, Y" F6 r# ^/ pworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.
* C" m/ ~& s% W4 W
7 b, T4 l0 \: `6 g$ x& }Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
1 H8 E# m( F. K7 j5 [vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
' }1 w8 W. m/ M  Yarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
4 C- l1 n( v) Ato implement the organizational policies.

3 H0 U% g6 U1 T3 kPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
5 k: N- |  e3 h7 t7 Y# ]: M+ P0 ithat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
& g  l  Y; y1 z) |: Hpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
: r7 P2 _) i% |+ ]) y7 F  Gincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
