The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.

/ _$ d3 f; k3 ASalary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.
/ v6 E/ \2 B5 i! A+ I+ P
Duties include: working closely with graduate students and research
1 D2 I9 G, S( X+ m! G+ c9 r# X! N0 i  ^technicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
for use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
( M! t' c. Y$ linclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
compounds by chromatography.

) a+ i* L2 b3 V  W2 M4 ]9 k- R' |/ p! v9 }Qualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
Chemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
analytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
4 v- l. i( G4 u2 a+ o5 L4 u2 R2 {4 _separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
6 o, }9 i( ^( n& U/ t" Qof a team essential.
4 B1 {8 Q- i/ x4 h. x2 Q1 T+ QThis position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
( Q: d$ l. s2 u# q# d8 |) s9 Qand chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
