A prominent cancer researcher at the University of Alberta, and his wife, are facing a number of charges related to the alleged sexual assault, and confinement, of a teenaged girl.2 z) W$ w% @. A2 `7 W! N, D

Zhixiang Wang, 50, and his wife Xinmei Chen, 49, were arrested at Edmonton Police Service headquarters on February 14.

/ I/ p5 r8 y& v4 ~$ \5 U. c; ]- AWang is facing charges of sexual contact with a minor, and sexual assault – for reported incidents dating back to between Nov. 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.

Chen is facing a charge of unlawful confinement of a child for alleged offences from May 31, 2010 to Jan. 29, 2013.! }5 H1 D7 V6 H

The University of Alberta issued a statement Friday, and confirmed the couple are both employed by the U of A, but are on leave.
