　　North country scene:

　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

　　One single white immensity.

7 d; B. \: P" a  \9 b0 B　　The Yellow River"s swift current

+ U  \$ n3 s% C$ ^* W, {2 x　　Is stilled from end to end.

8 _! p" t- h5 s　　The mountains dance like silver snakes
% \/ H( E8 k5 O; C% S/ x; b5 ~( F8 Z
　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

6 a0 ^9 k( ?! ?　　Vying with heaven in stature.

　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty

　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

$ n9 @& Z+ H  M; x) @　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

　　Had little poetry in their souls;
　　And Genghis Khan,

　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,
